We know you're busy.

At UnitedCoR, we understand that secular organizers and volunteers put a lion's share of their time and effort into the secular movement, in addition to all of their other commitments and responsibilities.

We want to give you the tools you need to make your volunteer work as easy as possible. Here are some upcoming webinars to check out, including recorded webinars you can listen to anytime:

Advocacy 101 for current and formerly enlisted servicemembers
The growing number of secular, humanist, and atheist individuals in the military have a unique voice that lawmakers should be hearing. But many servicemembers are hesitant to get involved in advocacy because they are wary of regulations of their speech from the Department of Defense (DOD). The Secular Coalition for America, Center for Inquiry, and the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers (MAAF) joined forces to empower nontheist servicemembers with this guide to advocating in compliance with DOD regulations.
Click here to access the recording. If you can, take the time to survey your members, identify current and formerly enlisted servicemembers, and ask them if they are interested in advocacy and/or becoming a member of MAAF.

How to Run a Local Secular Invocation Program
August 15, 2018, 7:00 pm EST
In 2014, the Supreme Court decided that invocations in the form of sectarian prayers at local legislative meetings are permitted so long as everyone can participate, “even an atheist.” The Central Florida Freethought Community (CFFC) asked every local government conducting invocations to permit humanists to participate. Since June of 2014, the CFFC has facilitated more than 60 invocations in Central Florida and one in the Florida House of Representatives. CFFC Co-Founders Jocelyn and David Williamson talk about the project, the resistance, and how you can engage your members in a fulfilling project that meets a number of goals you likely already have for your organization.

Prevent a leadership vacuum! Succession planning in your local group
Tuesday, August 14, 2018, 2:00 PM EST
Many secular communities face the challenge of long-term sustainability in the face of changes in leadership. Succession planning, when incorporated as a best practice, can prevent this from happening, and as a result
ensure that all the work you've done to build a secular community from the ground up will continue to grow for years to come. Cody Hashman and Stef McGraw, members of one of the longest-running and active secular student groups in the country, will guide you through how to institutionalize succession planning in your group.

Program Spotlight: Secular America Votes

The Secular Coalition for America is working with American Atheists, American Humanist Association, Center for Inquiry, Freedom from Religion Foundation, and Secular Student Alliance on Secular America Votes, a national effort to organize voter registration drives as a strategy for getting local secular communities on the political map as a constituency. All participants will get access to free swag (T-shirts, buttons, and stickers) and have your registration drives posted on the Secular America Votes website.

Reporting For Duty

The United Coalition for Reason has just concluded a 120-Day Needs Assessment Report based on interviews with and surveys of secular leaders across the country. This report details our findings, the challenges secular activists are facing, and our roadmap for helping them to succeed. When you have an opportunity, be sure to take a moment to read it.
