Hoosier Hemp News

Hemp Happy Hour @ Fountain Square Brewery

On March 7th, we hosted a networking event in Fountain Square, Indianapolis. We would like to give a special thanks to all our partners who helped make the magic happen! This includes our guest speakers, Indiana Grown's David King and Purdue University's Ron Turco, along with the artists who donated their time and talents,
Fountain Square USA's live printing their "Hempster" t-shirt during the event and Recreator Hemp Apparel for making the cursive hemp t-shirt. The atmosphere was enhanced with live music performed by The Dead Weight while Foods Alive provided product samples along with the hemp-infused food items made by Cosmic Chrome Cafe

Industrial Hemp Takes Manhattan

On February 27th, 2016, there was a presentation and panel discussion on industrial hemp at the Great Hall at Cooper Union in NYC, a venue made famous when Abraham Lincoln gave his impassioned speech against allowing the advancement of slavery to the Western Territories. Jamie Petty, President/Founder of INHIA, participated as a panelist and presented on the market for hemp food and hygiene products.

Indiana Grown Day At the Statehouse

In early March, Indiana Grown hosted a day for local Hoosier businesses to display their products and samples at the statehouse while discussing their success stories. INHIA participated by promoting #HoosierHemp businesses in the state while educating guests about the crop.

Politics & Legislation

U.S. Reps. Marlin Stutzman and Todd Young are the two Republican candidates running for Indiana's open U.S. Senate seat. Read more here. Rep. Todd Young is the only Indiana Congressman to sign onto the Federal Industrial Hemp Farming Act, HR 525/S134. Let your representatives know you want them to support this federal bill that would bring hemp back to US farmers. Take action here.

And remember to get out there and vote on May 3rd!
