Eagle County Public Health Order

Gradual re-opening of critical and non-critical businesses

Early this week, Eagle County Government & Public Health issued a revised Public Health Order allowing for the gradual re-opening of critical and non-critical businesses in Eagle County. The next important step of this process is providing guidelines for businesses on the safety protocols for re-opening their operations. Those guidelines and FAQ's can be found here to help answer your questions.

We strongly encourage you to review the Public Health Order since each business has unique operations, but we’ve highlighted some general safety protocols for non-critical and critical businesses below:

Officials say that Eagle County, in consultation with the local medical community and other partners, is moving toward a more sustainable social distancing model with these cautious and incremental steps to open businesses and recreation that are currently restricted. The primary focus is opening businesses that have not been defined as critical, essential, or governmental while requiring these businesses to implement a social distancing protocol.

All community members are strongly encouraged to read the entire order. In summary, changes in the new order include, but are not limited to:

  • Allows gatherings of up to 10 people, as long as social distancing requirements are met.
  • Allows some outdoor recreational facilities to reopen.
  • Restricts short-term lodging operations, except if necessary for an essential service or business, for emergency purposes or for medical care.
  • Allows more businesses to open in addition to previously allowed essential businesses, as long as the business can meet the requirements of the order. All businesses must create and visibly post a Social Distancing Protocol, explaining how the business is achieving all social distancing, sanitizing and cleaning, and other requirements.
  • Limits travel into or around Eagle County to local residents only. “Local residents” are defined as persons who own, maintain, or live in a home or residence in Eagle County.

Eagle County Reopening Trail Map & Protocols

Communicating to your customers and employees

The “Transition Trail Map” helps put the Public Health Order into easy-to-understand components. Use the Trail Map to help guide your own businesses specific protocol for each phase of the transition. Eagle County Public Health will determine which phase we are in:

Green Circle,  Blue Square, orBlack Diamond.

How does my business communicate our social distancing protocols? If you choose to open your business, you must fill out the Social Distancing Protocol form and share the completed document publicly and with your employees.

Post the appropriate symbol  Green Circle,   Blue Square, orBlack Diamond in a public, visible place at your businesses for the duration of that phase, together with a copy of your social distancing policy.

We are currently in Phase 1, Green Circle. Please post a Green Circle in a publicly visible place at your business. Do not post Blue Square or Black Diamond until Public Health determines we are in that phase. Customers and employees will then be able to easily identify where your policies are located so that they can follow your social distancing strategy. Switch to the new symbol as we progress.

Printable Green Circle: Integrate the green circle with your social media! More social media assets and headers coming soon.

Help share the “Five Commitments of Containment”

  1. I will maintain 6 feet of social distance
  2. I will wash my hands often
  3. I will cover my face in public
  4. I will stay home when I am sick
  5. I will get tested immediately if I have symptoms
