I just got this newsletter from Joe McGurl. I thought some of you might also enjoy seeing Joe's work and his interview.
For those of you that wonder about a realist who does not, or rarely uses photography, but instead relies on his field studies, his imagination, and his memory this is a great interview to see a little into what makes Joe tick. I have also always been into physics/metaphysics and how they all relate to spirituality and painting the landscape. The Coors Western Art Show is one of the premier events of the year. This year it is virtual, but you can see all the work he is sending. He also talks about it in the interview.
We DID do his workshop in the middle of the Covid a few weeks ago. It was only 8 people. Everyone wore masks unless they were inside their six foot circle around their easel. To go up to his painting, or another artist's painting, you stopped at 6 feet out and asked and then everyone wore a mask. it worked beautifully and all the artists had a great time. Joe McGurl will be doing another workshop in April of 2022....so the April after this upcoming one. Classes are small, and alreaday 5 people have signed up from this past workshop. If you are interested....no money needed now of course.....do let me know. I'll make sure you get first dibs for the final slots. He never takes more than 12.
And those workshops are incredible! Do enjoy this preview of the Coor's Show. Happy Holidays everyone!
