GREETINGS ARTISTS:

Last Thursday's paintout at Myakka State Park was a beautiful surprise! The yellow fields of Tickseed / Coreopsis flowers were in full bloom and just begging to be painted.
As you can see in the photos below, sent by Wendell Graham, the flowers were everywhere. They were in the open fields on the left side of the road before the concession stand, and also peeking out between the tall pine trees and even by the lakeside at the end of the parking lot.
A marvelous painting completed that day by Doug Michalski can be seen below.
It was a beautiful day enjoyed by all who were fortunate enough to be there!

LOCATION: Oscar Scherer State Park
9:00am - Noon
GPS: 1843 S. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, Florida 34229

DIRECTIONS:
Oscar Scherer State Park is located on U.S. 41, six miles south of Sarasota. Heading south on I-75 take exit 200. Heading north on I-75 take exit 195. [Laurel/Nokomis]. Drive about 3 miles west to Tamiami Trail/US 41.  
Entrance is on the EAST SIDE of Tamiami Trail.

As this is a state park there is a small entry charge. 2 - 8 person occupied vehicle:  $5.00 per vehicle. Single person occupied vehicle:  $4.00 per vehicle.  Always free with a State Park Pass.   

Restroom facilities can be found within the Lake Osprey and South Creek Picnic Areas.

 If you visit the beach please don't walk on the dunes and if you happen upon any wildlife, especially a sea turtle nest, do not disturb it.

The CDC recommendations are still in effect:

PLEASE PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING & WEAR A MASK WHEN IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF OTHERS, SINCE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO IS VACCINATED OR NOT.


We want everyone to enjoy their painting experience, so please be mindful of others & also of your surroundings. It is still alligator mating season and this park is their home.
