THIS WEEK WE ANNOUNCE THE FINAL 20TH WEEK WINNER
FIRST LIGHTCHASERS PAINTING CHALLENGE
The 20 winning paintings will be judged by three of our Lightchasers Featured Artists this week. Don't miss our Special Awards Email at the end of the week, when we announce the Winning Paintings and Prizes!
Many thanks to all artists who have submitted paintings and made this Challenge a success and something that we all look forward to each week.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO HAVE PAINTINGS IN THE FINAL CHALLENGE!
Just a note to everyone who has submitted artwork during the last 20 weeks. We, your Board of Directors, have found it increasingly harder to Judge your submissions because the Level of your Artwork has risen to a point where there are many "Best Paintings of the Week". Do not feel discouraged if your painting was not chosen "Best".
We can only choose one painting, and you should feel proud that you have made it very difficult to choose just one painting each week!!! ESPECIALLY THIS LAST WEEK!!!
THE PAINTING CHOSEN AS BEST PAINTING OF THE 20TH & FINAL WEEK OF THE LIGHTCHASERS PAINTING CHALLENGE IS:
BY DARRYL GOLDMAN
OIL ON PANEL
8 X 10
CONGRATULATIONS TO DARRYL FOR HIS IMPRESSIONISTIC RENDERING OF A VIBRANT STREET SCENE. THE STRONG PERSPECTIVE OF THE BUILDINGS AND THE STREET DRAWS YOU INTO THE PAINTING. THE CONTRAST OF THE BRIGHT SUNSHINE AND DRAMATIC SHADOWS MOVES YOUR EYE AROUND THE SCENE. THE SOFT COLORFUL BRUSHSTROKES CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE THAT MAKES YOU WISH YOU WERE DINING THERE!
DARRYL'S PAINTING WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE FINAL CHALLENGE TO TAKE PLACE THIS WEEK.

THIS WEEK WE ARE SPOTLIGHTING OUR LIGHTCHASERS FEATURED ARTIST "JOSEPH MELANCON".
Joseph has been a familiar face to our group for many years. He has been a great teaching influence to our member through his many Demonstrations and Workshops.
Joseph had won the 2nd place award in our Lightchasers Featured Artist Show in January. He is shown with his prize winning painting in the photo ABOVE.
Joseph is quite an inventor and has shared many of his ideas with the group, like creating his own unique easel
or even making a paint brush out of a palm frond! Every level of painter can benefit from his very informative teaching.
Joseph creates in many different mediums and his painting style can be anything from Realistic to Abstract.
His vibrant use of color is woven throughout his work and his amazing use of backlighting in his landscapes is breathtaking!
Joseph's sketchbooks are legendary and you can get lost in them and the perfection of his drawings.
Below are several paintings Joseph has completed during this time of isolation.
For more information about Joseph and his work and teaching please check out his website at this link www.josephmelancon.com

"As you can see I get very experimental toward abstract. I keep a list of maybe a hundred artists that break the barriers of convention. They are the ones that inspire me. Quiet time in the studio pushes me to experiment and go beyond what I am capable of doing…keep stretching to see where I can go."
