AmeriCorps Cape Cod Week

This inaugural week of service (May 18-22) highlighted the collaboration between town, county, federal, and non-profit sectors to improve the Outer Cape community.
Members spent two days during AmeriCorps Cape Cod week at the Highlands Center in Truro. Improvement projects, such as the arbor in the above photos, were completed as we continue to assist the Cape Cod National Seashore renovate this former Air Force Station to a fantastic community space.

Mark your calendars! The annual Highlands Fest will be on Saturday, June 27.
AmeriCorps members developed and presented lessons at the Nauset Regional Middle School Greenhouse Learning Laboratory. Students learned about planting seeds, watering plants, potting soil, composting, and pest management.

Year 16 Photo Spotlight

For the second year in a row, Boston University’s Branch Out service program volunteered at the Brewster herring run by the Stony Brook Grist Mill. Students received a tour of the grist mill from Dana Condit, Herring Warden in Brewster, learned about the herring run, and served alongside community volunteers to clear brush along the run.
