National Volunteer Week 2015

Year 16 Photo Spotlight

Barnstable County Commissioner Sheila Lyons paused to take an "usie" with some ACC members. Sheila and County Administrator Michael Brillhart toured service sites in Mashpee with ACC and RDO staff on April 7, 2015 for County Day of Recognition for National Service.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:


Canal Cleanup (April 25, 2015 - 10AM to 2PM)
This ONE-DAY event is in its 15th year! Volunteers are needed to assist AmeriCorps Cape Cod and Army Corps of Engineers with general cleanup of canal banks and grounds maintenance projects at different sites along the canal. Breakfast and lunch provided.

Beautify Brewster (April 25, 2015 - 9:30AM to 12PM) 
In celebration of Earth Day, the Town of Brewster is hosting a town-wide cleanup. Meeting locations are scattered throughout Brewster, so contact Ryan (rburch@brewster-ma.gov) or Teikyo (tmowchan@brewster-ma.gov) to get a group placement. An appreciation luncheon will be held at the Brewster Baptist Church at noon. 

Tour De Trash (May 2, 2015 - 8:30AM to 12PM)
The snow has melted and the trash has emerged! Join the Harwich Conservation Trust and the Town of Harwich Conservation Department in a town-wide spring cleaning. Lunch will be provided. For more information and to register, please go to harwichconservationtrust.org. Contact AmeriCorps member Kelsey at tourdetrash@gmail.com with any questions. We hope to see you there!

Barnstable Spring Trail Clean-up (May 16, 2015 - 9AM to 1PM)
Help AmeriCorps member Sawyer and the Town of Barnstable improve hiking trails and restore plant and animal habitat. No need to register, just meet at the Old Jail Lane Conservation Area parking lot off Route 6A (map of area) - a light breakfast will be provided

AmeriCorps Cape Cod Week (May 18-22, 2015)
This new week-long event will highlight our partnership with Outer Cape agencies by enhancing natural and community areas just in time for tourist season kick off - Memorial Day! More information will be available soon! 

          Project schedule for the week:
          Monday & Friday: Cape Cod National Seashore
          Tuesday: Wellfleet Conservation Commission
          Wednesday: Sustainable CAPE
          Thursday: Provincetown Conservation Department
