On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, AmeriCorps Cape Cod gets to step out of its usual daily grind and participate in more human focused service. Last year we "Shared the Wealth" through creativity and direct service with several community partnerships and hundreds of volunteers from across the Cape. This year we are encouraging youth service and development by planning a smaller project just for kids. It will be a day of Youth-Serving-Youth to "Bridge the Hunger Gap." All volunteer spots are currently full for this event.

Consistent with the food theme of the day, volunteers are needed at Cape Abilities 6A Farm in Dennis to assist in preparing for the 2015 growing season. Volunteers will fill buckets with growing medium and assemble the hydroponic system used to grow tomatoes. If you are unfamiliar with Cape Abilities, visit their website to see how they empower individuals with disabilities to lead meaningful and valued roles in the Cape Cod community.Currently recruiting volunteers, 18 years or older, for this project.

If you would like to volunteer at the farm on MLK Day email Valerie Falconieri (LeHacML@barnstablecounty.org) or Brittany Quaglieri (brittany.quaglieri@barnstablecounty.org) for more information.
