Hello

It is with great pride that I can announce that Collective Intelligence is now a certified B Corp™. It’s taken 10 months and hours of detailed work by last year’s intern Charlie Pearson and Mary Beth to get us across the line as a certified B Corp™. But it has been worth it with benefits to our organisation already.

B Corp™ is a global certification that is essentially about meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

It’s a certification - Like fair trade (or organic or LEED), but for the whole company.

It’s unique - Meets the highest standards of verified performance, transparency, and accountability
It’s an approach - A better way to do business – better for workers, communities and the environment
It’s a community - A community of practice to increase our individual and collective impact
It’s a movement - Leaders of a global movement of people using business as a force for good™

Thanks to you all...

For a number of years members have made the comment “it is bloody hard to describe what CQ is.”  And so they either don’t talk about their experience, or if they do, make it sound rather mysterious.  Great feedback and we have been listening and pondering how to overcome this.

In response -  what we are about is Collective Intelligence.

Thanks to the talented team phd3, a multitude of people, including members, for their time and input.  The outcome, we believe has given us clarity on who we are and what we do.  It has also allowed us to address your request to help us all speak about Collective Intelligence with one voice.

"Collective Intelligence is a group of diverse people that come together to challenge their growth"

Our Philosophy

Our why

We believe people are capable of great things

Who?

Optimists, challengers, thought leaders and people who care enough to make a difference.

Our dream

Is to build the world's most relevant development process for professionals and entrepreneurs ti thrive in.

What?

An ecosystem of members who meet six days a year in a carefully designed and facilitated series of workshops to focus on their growth.

How

We build diverse teams of competent people chosen for their ambition, curiosity and authenticity, who collaborate, collide and have fun. We disregard convention in a safe and respectful environment, to tackle real issues.

Collective Intelligence is a community of people with the following base attributes which are often developed further…

Competent

It's a cornerstone for all conversations.

Ambitious

Probing new frontiers. Your frontiers.

Authentic

Being true to your values. Do what you say you are going to do.

Curious

The birthplace of what’s possible.

Collective Intelligence first impact assessment

Thanks to the 56% of our members for completing our first ever inpact assessment. Steve Henry from Capable NZ is busy analysing the data as I write this.  We look forward to sharing the results with you in an upcoming newsletter.

For completing the survey - the winner of the Air New Zealand Mystery weekend is …. Hayden Rees-Jones.

The Eva Gluyas Memorial Scholarship launched

We first got the news of Eva’s passing at the finish of our inaugural Advisory Board meeting on the afternoon of May 14th. The topic just prior was how to extend the scholarship numbers and reach. So it was very fitting that there was a call to action, to launch a memorial scholarship under Eva's name.

On the evening of 27th June in Dunedin (Eva’s hometown), her Collective Intelligence team met at her work space Petridish to launch the ‘Eva Gluyas Memorial Scholarship’.
The launch is a celebration of Eva’s work as a designer, who had a huge impact on many people and companies around NZ.

In the media

This will be awarded to a courageous young woman who is into design, and looking to make a positive impact on the world. We are not ready yet to receive applications, but it’s not far away.

As part of the strategy to extend the scholarship program, we are looking to raise funds in a variety of ways over the coming years. This scholarship has kicked into life a number of initiatives to do just that.

Collective Intelligence is working in partnership with The Gift Trust, who will be administering the donations for the Eva Gluyas Scholarships. The Gift Trust is a New Zealand registered charity that helps people wanting to make donations to charitable causes, to do so more efficiently. Collective Intelligence holds an account with the Gift Trust so that our supporters can make a donation to Eva’s Scholarship and claim a tax refund.
Supporters of the Eva Gluyas Memorial Scholarship will receive a tax receipt from The Gift Trust which will let you claim a tax credit within NZ, if you are eligible.

Shout out to

Simon Saunders and his family who featured beautifully on Country Calendar this month. It was a great mix of science, environmentalism and family values all rolled into one. Plus a guest appearance from geneticist Aimee Charteris, and a cameo by an old dodgy bugger, Andy Ramsden lurking in a back pen.

Obituary for Renata Apatu

On Thursday 24th June Renata Apatu was involved in a tragic helicopter crash on their family Station, Ngamatea. His funeral held at the Hawke's Bay Showgrounds was massive with about 1500 moners attending, who sat quietly for nearly 3 hours listening to stories of Rens life . Our thoughts go out to Ren’s family and friends.
We will have a full obituary next month when we have allowed time to grieve and will be asking people to write about Ren.

Meet our new Advisory Board

It’s surprising what gets tucked away in your thinkeree over time

What strikes me is the amount of knowledge I tucked away as CQ (Collective Intelligence) evolved, and haven’t yet shared.
