Welcome to the new Eco-Congregation Scotland Enews featuring the ten things you need to know about Eco-Congregation Scotland this month.

1. Church of Scotland takes stand on fossil fuel investments.

The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland has voted to disinvest in companies whose major business depends on the extraction and sale of the most unclean energy sources.

2. Mass Climate Lobby of Holyrood – Thurs 29th Sept 2016.




Join people from across Scotland in the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh to tell MSPs why you want them to turn Scotland’s climate ambition into climate action.

The event will take place at lunchtime on Thursday 29th September, inside the Scottish Parliament and places to take part in the lobby must be booked in advance.

3. Stephen Hawking: Runaway climate change is biggest threat to our world.


In an interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Professor Stephen Hawking has said that the greatest threat to humanity is human-caused climate change. The relevant part of the interview starts at 2 minutes in:

9. EU Referendum Resource from JPIT


The Joint Public Issues Team of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, Church of Scotland and the Methodist Church have issued a resource for the EU referendum called “Think,Pray,Vote”.
