If you workout, play sports or have aches and pains in your body, there’s a good chance you own or have used a foam roller.

A foam roller is a lightweight foam cylinder that you use to self administer a deep tissue massage. It is believed that foam rollers increase flexibility, decrease pain, and releases muscle knots.

In a recent blog from the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation at Memorial University of Newfoundland, says their lab has been working to verify these claims and determine if the assumptions of foam rolling are indeed correct.

The blog talks about current research regarding the effectiveness of foam rolling on flexibility, performance, and soreness.
