Call for mentors!

Ninth annual VWL & WBA Law Student Mentoring Program

After the excitement of International Women's Day and its 'Pledge for Parity' call to arms, a thrilling oration by Professor Megan Davis - following her appointment to the Prime Minister's Referendum Council - at the annual Dame Roma Mitchell memorial lunch and the launch of a new women barristers lunch series, VWL has settled into the business of offering great events, programs and projects for women lawyers and law students. A snapshot of what is coming up is listed below. Visit vwl.asn.au for more details and to stay up to date with VWL's activities.

MEMBERS
Competition time!
We have nine double passes to give away to members to see Marguerite - a film inspired by the life of Florence Foster Jenkins. Florence was a 1920s socialite and amateur operatic soprano, who persisted with her singing despite lack of natural ability.

Marguerite is in cinemas now after receiving 11 nominations at the 41st César Awards, winning Best Actress, Costume Design, Sound, and Production Design.

The first nine VWL members to email contact@vwl.asn.au with their name and address will be sent a double pass. Good luck!

COMMITTEES
Committee vacancies

Join VWL's rejuvenated membership committee and contribute to the broadening of VWL's membership base. A key focus of the committee's work this year is designing and delivering events tailored for women lawyers in suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria.

New members are also sought for VWL's justice committee, which focuses on human rights issues affecting women, as well as our work practices and communications committees.

To get involved in a committee, please email contact@vwl.asn.au.

SPONSORS
Sponsor in the Spotlight
VWL members within our sponsor firms support us through active participation in the VWL community. We highlight the work of these women lawyers, and share their thoughts with members, through our regular 'sponsor in the spotlight' column. In March/April we feature Lucy Terracall, Insurance Partner at Clayton Utz.
