At this time of year many find themselves appraising their recent progress and looking ahead. Career development is the focus of two special events in May. Access to mentors and sponsors has been found to be key in women's advancement in the law, and tips for establishing and maintaining effective mentoring and sponsorship relationships are contained in VWL's recently released Flexible Work Protocols.

All-woman mooting competition
Planning of VWL's new mooting competition for Victorian women lawyers is well underway. At this stage, the inaugural moot is expected to take place over August and September. A formal announcement about the competition will be made in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, you can still register your interest in participating.
Launch of the 2015 VWL & WBA Law Student Mentoring Program
This year VWL received an overwhelming level of interest from students in the VWL & WBA Law Student Mentoring Program. The program was officially launched by Commissioner, the Honourable Marcia Neave AO on 13 May, with over 120 mentor/mentee pairs successfully matched.
VWL's membership fees will increase from 1 July 2016.
