39% of today’s college student reported having some type of food insecurity

57% of potentially eligible students are not enrolled in SNAP

Most able-bodied students ages 18 through 49 who are enrolled in college or other institutions of higher education at least half time are not eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance. However, students may be able to get Supplemental Nutrition Assistance if otherwise eligible if they:

Take part in a State or federally financed work study program;

To apply students would need to go into a local DHHS office for Family Independence. They are interviewed and next steps are determined.

FAFSA TRACKER
SAD #44 7th Graders Tour UMO

During February vacation, several seventh graders participated in an overnight trip to UMO to tour a variety of the university's programs and facilities. Lynsdsey Smith the Northstar Youth Mentoring Program Coordinator at the Bryant Pond 4H Camp and Learning Center led the college visit which was sponsored by Northstar and SAD 44's GEAR UP Maine grant.
