WGS & ES Welcome Lani Teves


Ethnic Studies and Women's and Gender Studies is thrilled to welcome Dr. Lani Teves, Assistant Professor. Her research areas include Native Pacific Cultural Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies; Decolonization in the Pacific; Comparative Indigeneity; Native and Women of Color Feminisms; Queer of Color Critique; Queer Indigeneity; Sovereignty; Performance Studies; Indigenous Theory.

WGS Welcomes Erica Rand


Women's and Gender Studies is pleased to welcome visiting professor Erica Rand of Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, where she is Whitehouse Professor of Art and Visual Culture and of Women and Gender Studies.

Professor Rand is currently teaching WGS 422, Queer/Trans Sports Studies.

New volume of essays co-edited by WGS Professor Ernesto Martínez


ES/WGS Professor Martínez has co-edited, with Stephanie Fryberg, a groundbreaking new volume of essays on diversity in American higher education.

Elizabeth Reis participates in Beyond Toxics panel


On October 24th Elizabeth Reis joined Dr. Tyrone Hayes, professor of biology at University of California at Berkeley, on a panel considering the impact of herbicides on water, animal, and human health.

Congratulations to Miriam Abelson, new assistant professor at PSU!


Miriam received her PhD in Sociology with a graduate certificate in Women's and Gender Studies from the University of Oregon in Summer '14.

Her research interests are in sexualities, men and masculinities, transgender, LGBT youth, urban and rural studies, and intersectional approaches to race, sexuality, and gender.
