Our 2015 Schoolship season is underway
As many of you know, spring is very busy at ISEA. Last week was full of trial runs and the first three Schoolship programs. We are pleased to have a menu of program options for schools to choose from this year and are very thankful for our volunteers and their willingness to attempt new ways of
inspiring today’s youth. On May 8, 2015 we welcomed students aboard the Inland Seas and the Manitou for the first official Schoolship programs of 2015 (one particular school loaded up their bus at 4:00 a.m. to sail on the Inland Seas!) and the calendar is booked through the end of the school year. We look forward to inspiring so many students with the wonders of the Great Lakes.
With the new season comes a new look. ISEA has just launched a new website and we would love for you to check it out. We are pleased with the look and feel, but most importantly, we are happy with the functionality. While the new site has been released, please understand we will be tweaking content over the next couple of months so check back often.
We are testing out this new logo this summer. You may see variations of it on our webpage, letters, rack cards, magazine advertisements, and social media this season. We feel it’s important to incorporate our mission of protecting the Great Lakes in our communications. You will notice this particular design incorporates the global importance of the lakes, our ship, and most importantly uses a water based color pallet. As we explore design options, we would love to know what you think. If you have an opinion, please share it with us on this Google form.
Membership Opportunities
ISEA has reinstated a membership program and we would love for you to check it out. We have ensured that every membership level has the opportunity to directly sponsor student programs and believe that we have included some unique membership benefits for each level. If you have donated in the last couple of years, you will be receiving membership information in the mail soon. If you’d like to see the program now, please visit our new webpage ( and click the donate link and then the Membership tab. If you would rather sponsor specific programs instead of joining as a member, check out the Sponsorship tab on the Donate page.
Black Star Farms Event
ISEA is getting very excited about the event we have planned at Black Star Farms on May 21st. While we are thrilled that it only took 24 hours to book 160 participants for the event, we are very sad that we had to turn some people away. We will work hard to keep everyone informed of the happenings from this event and will have many additional opportunities throughout the year to engage the ISEA family.
