Bicester Sports Development Plan Update from the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership
Welcome to your first newsletter from Cherwell District Council for clubs, groups and individuals to keep up to date with developments in Bicester along with potential opportunities. Newsletters will be sent out on a 6 weekly basis. Please find an update below from Tristan (Oxfordshire Sport Partnership) following the Workshops. Also please find a map of existing and proposed sporting facility provision
Thank you to all the clubs that attended one of the two workshops we ran in August. We have listened to the feedback and priorities identified and we have been working with the council and your national governing bodies to explore how they can be progress.
I have created a page on our website where we will be uploading all relevant documents and I have uploaded the slides from the workshops. http://www.oxfordshiresport.org/bicester-sports-development
I made the pledge to be in contact with every club by the end of September and I have already had conversations with some clubs. In addition to this email, each club will receive an individual email during the week beginning 22nd September with what information we have, what further information we would like and an invitation to book a session with your club to work through your plans.
We have typed up the sheets from the consultation done in November 2013 which were passed to us when we commenced this work and these can be downloaded from the website. These provide a good start but need to be fleshed out in terms of priority actions in relation to the available resources and make them more tangible..
Also on the website you will find the club support package offer and a template development plan which you may find useful if you don’t already have a plan. The template is split into three sections. The first section is about ‘where are you now?’ and we would like all clubs to complete this and return it to me.
The second and third sections are about ‘Where do you want to be?’ and ‘How are you going to get there?’ For these sections you may already have a suitable development plan and we would advise football and rugby clubs in particular, to use their NGB’s format for development plans.
What else we are doing:
Arranging a meeting with Bicester Sports Association to understand their plans for the future.
Identifying as clearly as possible the future opportunities for sport from the proposed developments.
Reviewing existing pitch provision to see how they can be better utilised in the short term.
