The State of the Region address is a panel composed of leaders from across the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. It will now be held at the Edmonton Convention Centre on Thursday, October 6th, 2022, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. and will provide opportunities to discuss the current landscape, explore economic improvement, investment attraction and a create a unified vision on regional collaboration.

Council Connect is a monthly opportunity for your voice to be heard as you connect and engage with a City Councillor. We invite you to connect with Councillor Anne Stevenson of Ward O’day’min and members of the business community.

According to a new report by the Canadian Chamber Commerce’s Business Data Lab and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce which surveyed 559 businesses in Edmonton CMA:

  • Inflation: 69.7% of Edmonton businesses cite rising inflation as one of their biggest obstacles, nearly 10% higher than the national average.
  • Price of goods: 64.8% of businesses in Edmonton expect their price of goods to remain the same while 28% are expecting to increase their prices.
  • Supply chains: In Edmonton CMA, 56.2% of businesses stated that their supply chain challenges have worsened in the past quarter and the majority expect supply chain challenges to last long-term.
  • Labour challenges: As with the rest of the country, labour challenges have intensified for Edmonton businesses, and they only expect it to worsen in the next quarter. These concerns are most prevalent in manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, and accommodation and food service industries.
