As we have added brand new roles and more opportunities for members, this is a meeting you don’t want to miss! If you have a conflicting class or work obligation, you should let your boss/professor know now you will not be there.

Save the Date! Crowdfunding Launch Party, April 23

Participants who wish to receive International Conference funding will meet at DBH 117 at 6:00 PM, as always, for the launch party! Be sure to check-in with your teams and leads to have all of your launch materials (emails, social media, text messages, videos, images, etc.) ready! Feel free to use our meeting room in DBH 117 as a work area to finalize your materials from 4:15-6:00 PM, but please do not put off your crowdfunding prep.

2-3 applicants from each role will be chosen to present to members who will then ask questions, give feedback and vote on the 2018-2019 Executive Board! Don’t worry, the current E-board can help you prep, all you have to do is ask! Please proactively check your email after the application to see if you have been chosen to present on April 30, 2019.

Save the Date! A Showcase of PR, Advertising and Journalism Students, May 14

This event will be the highlight of the year for the department. With food, drinks and fun, students will celebrate their achievements, showcase work and meet local professionals, many of whom who are alumni! This event replaces the annual convocation ceremony that takes place before graduation as it is more interactive. Ticket information coming soon, tell your friends in the department to save the date!

Want to see what the other side of your pitch is thinking? At “Inside the Newsroom” on April 24, you can hear what journalists think and what stories will be in the headlines. The “New to the Beat, New to the Valley” panel will feature journalists who are either covering their tech beat for the first time or are new to living in the Silicon Valley. Panelists will reveal their first impressions, discuss the most important stories they’ve covered over the past year, share what they believe the top trends for 2019 will be and how their approach to storytelling has changed (or stayed the same).PRSSA will arrange travel as the date approaches.

Social Media Workshop – Tips for Managing Organic and Paid Media

Tiffany Fettig-Pante from H&L Partners will be sharing tips for managing organic and paid media at a FREE workshop at Las Positas College, Wed. April 24 at 6 p.m. in building 2400 room 2420.

Tiffany is the Associate Media Director at an Oakland-based advertising agency called H&L Partners. She has worked for nearly 10 years in marketing agencies across the Bay Area, New York and even Australia, specializing in media planning and strategy for clients such as Toyota, NBC Universal, and Pernod Ricard.
