City of Kamloops Urges Residents to Stay out of Nature Parks and Closes Six More Nature Parks

Kamloops, BC – In the interest of public safety and due to extremely dry conditions, the following parks are now closed until further notice:
  • Sahali Terrace
  • Batchelor Nature Park
  • Skyline Park
  • Sifton Loop
  • Gleneagles Park
  • Campbell Creek Nature Park
  • Kamloops Bike Ranch
  • Pineview Trail Network
These closures are in addition to closures that were implemented over the weekend. The parks are closed to all bike, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic.

Parks crews are in the process of installing closure signs and will continue to do so throughout the week. Crews are monitoring City parks to ensure residents and visitors are abiding by closures.

To report people using closed parks, please call City of Kamloops Bylaw at 250-828-3409.

Residents are reminded that smoking is always prohibited in all City parks. Given the extremely dry conditions, the City urges residents to be extremely cautious with cigarettes in all areas.

The public can play a part in fire prevention by staying aware, reporting fires immediately, and keeping all vehicles and bikes away from dry areas.

The public is asked to call 911 immediately if a fire is suspected. The City of Kamloops and Kamloops Fire Rescue asks residents to share this message widely.
