Hunger Walk is Sept 19

It's Gleanin' Season!

Together with our volunteers, farms, neighborhood fruit tree owners and fruit drive hosts, we been VERY busy!  In fact, we have collected and shared 100,000 lbs of fresh produce so far in 2015! We want to send a huge thanks to everyone who has helped harvest, spread the word, or reached out to donate their crop! Our phone has been ringing off the hook and we couldn't be happier that word is getting out about rescuing produce and sharing it with our neighbors and friends.

As a result, our biggest need right now is for gleaners! If you have been thinking about signing up for a glean, now is the time. With GleanSLO, every volunteer makes a BIG difference!  To register for a glean, just head on over to our harvest calendar and click on an event.

We look forward to seeing you out there!

Love backyard harvests? Become a Neighborhood Harvest Leader!

Next Training: Friday, Aug 28

As a Neighborhood Harvest Leader, you will be trained and equipped to lead small groups of volunteers to harvest excess produce from homes in your area. Harvest Leaders drop off produce to a nearby food pantry, keeping the fruit as local as possible. We ask our NHLs to make a 3-6 month commitment and lead at least one harvest per month.

It's National Farmers Market Week! Did you know that the SLO Food Bank distributes gleaned produce through 13 Farmers Market-Style Distributions throughout the county each week?
