Rescuing nature's bounty for the benefit of our community

Introducing Susan Singley

New GleanSLO Program Manager!

GleanSLO and the Food Bank Coaltion of SLO County are happy to welcome Susan Singley, our new GleanSLO Program Manager. Be sure introduce yourself to Susan when you see her at your next glean!

On behalf of the GleanSLO Steering Committee, we’d like to thank Jen Miller for her time as Program Manager.  She fully committed herself to growing our program, to feeding even more of our neighbors in need and expanding our original vision. Luckily Jen will still be involved with GleanSLO in her new position with the Food Bank as Director of Programs!  Congrats!

Welcome Susan! Please tell us about yourself and your background:

"My name is Susan Singley and I am incredibly happy to be the new Program Manager for GleanSLO! I recently relocated to SLO County from Fort Collins, Colorado. Simply put, my passions are community and food! I have had many incredible opportunities to work, learn and live in great places, with great people, and couldn’t be happier to have landed in San Luis Obispo County.

Most recently, I was working for a Food Bank, handling local food donations (including farms, gardens and gleanings) at the Food Bank for Larimer County."

Searching for Silent Auction Items

Our GleanSLO team is gearing up to host the Rabobank Barrel to Barrel Silent Auction event at the Cliffs Resort on Friday, May 1st. But, we need your help!  Are you a local business owner, or know of a business, that would like to donate an item to be included to our silent auction?  If so, please contact us at or (805) 835-3750!

Volunteer Opportunities
We'll also need a handful of volunteers to help during the weekend-long festivities from April 29-May 3. Look for more details and a sign up link in our April GleanSLO e-newsletter!

School Fruit Drives underway

Cuties collecting Cuties

This spring we're collaborating with a number of San Luis Obispo school groups to let the kids lead the way!  These student gleaners pick fruit at their own home or in their neighborhood and bring it to school where it's picked up and shared with the Food Bank.  We can't think of anything more inspiring than kids gleaning the way to a healthier community!

Thanks to the participating school groups: Bishop's Peak Elementary and Parks & Rec after-school group, Pacheco Elementary Parks & Rec after-school group, Hawethorne Parks & Rec after-school group, Sinsheimer Parks & Rec after-school group, Mission College Prep High School Green Team, SLO Classical Academy, and SLO High School FFA Leadership Team!

Hot off the Press!

GleanSLO Door Hangers

Have you walked past that loaded tree in your neighborhood and wondered what'll happen to all the extra fruit?  No need to fret; now you can let your neighbors know about GleanSLO with a friendly door hanger!  If you'd like a stack, get in touch with our program coordinator, Jeanine at 805-235-1180, to arrange a time to pick some up.

A shout out to local printer, PRP Companies, for their generous support with this project!
