 Rainbow of Rescued Produce

2014 in review

The highlights!

It's been another fruitful year for GleanSLO. We hit some incredible milestones in 2014 and have plenty to brag about thanks to generous supporters like you, our GleanSLO community!

11 Fruit Drives hosted=3,239 lbs
102 Farmers' Market Collections=26,928 lbs
129 Produce pick ups=35,025 lbs
143 Commercial Farm Gleans=93,941 lbs
188 Neighborhood Gleans=40,959 lbs
=200,092 total pounds rescued!

15 trained Neighborhood Harvest Leaders
572 active Gleaners
=4,307 total volunteer hours!

Although our yields were lower this year due to the drought, we saw a 68% increase in the number of farm gleans and a 24% increase in the number of neighborhood gleans compared to 2013.  Thank you to all the donors, big and small, who helped us share nutritious food to our neighbors in need!

We're looking forward to another year of abundance in 2015!

No worries...Here's your chance to check it out!

Ready to climb the GleanSLO Volunteer Ladder?

Become a Neighborhood Harvest leader!

Neighborhood Harvest Leaders play an integral role in rescuing produce from neighborhood homes and donating it directly to partner agencies in their local community. Over the past year, we've trained 15 NHLs who have lead 50+ gleans across the county harvesting and donating thousands of pounds of produce to those in need! In February, we're training our next batch of passionate and dedicated NHLs! Would you like to be a leader in our efforts to reduce food waste, connect with our local community AND be part of an innovative solution to end hunger?
