Hello <<voornaam>> and hello November,
Now that we'll see less and less flowers in nature let's put them on our bicycle bags. My magnolia print for Basil is featured on many bags, bicycle bells and saddle covers and soon available over here. Not only in poppy red, but also in stylish grey with pastels, blackberry and teal blue.
October has been Inktober for me, a daily Instagram post of an ink drawing or painting. I love the journaling part of these projects,to remember what happened in my life (nothing radical, but still). Check out Inktober2017 over here

Continuing my focus on Japan, I went to a Sumi-e painting workshop last month. A traditional Asian way of painting with ink on rice paper. It is closely related to Zen Buddhism: take a deep breath and on exhaling put down a minimal brush stroke. Ofcourse these few strokes immediately resemble a bamboo leaf or wild orchid. It takes years to master this technique, but it was fun to try anyway (although I did refer to it as Sumi-e-wrestling). I will be using my chrysanthemums for a bedding design probably.
If you're interested in Japanese botanicals and ceramics like I am, go visit the Japan museum Sieboldhuis in Leiden. It shows the wonderful dried flora and fauna collection doctor-collector Siebold brought back from his journeys to Deshima in the 1820's. Wonderful to see 150 year old dried flowers!
For the fabrics you see above, I used another Japanese technique: shibori dyeing. If you want to get your hands dirty too, check out an online tutorial like this one. All of my fabrics are available for licensing or sale outright, by the way.
New addition to the beautiful Bunzlau Castle product lines are duvet covers (with my designs on them) and woolen winter plaids. Check them out over here at Bunzlau Castle.
If I may believe my clients a marine theme is never out of fashion. Somehow we all value marine prints, the association with holiday, sea and sun, of course, is never far away. I've got a collection of fifteen allover marine prints, suitable for wallpaper, fabric or other products. No more sea for me, the next few weeks I'll be creating winter bedding designs for Heimtextil 2018.
I'd love to tell you more about my designs. Please contact me if you would like to see designs in detail or have a look at my website to see other work.
Best regards, Dieuwertje.
