The summer holidays are coming to an end, oh dear! My holiday was filled with hiking and exploring a beautiful region in Germany along the river Mosel. I hope you had a good summer too! Back in my studio I've been preparing curtain and wallpaper designs to show to some new contacts. Floral designs, of course, but also ones with ferns and other kinds of leaves.
Being trained as a potter, I've always had a soft spot for ceramics. Everywhere I go on holiday I try to visit a local pottery shop in search of a nice handpainted bowl. I love to paint ceramics too, like these teapots and bowls in Japanese style. This print is available for licensing or sale outright and would make great kitchen textile, I think.
Other Japanese oriented prints in my collection are made with shibori dye, like the design you see below. This hand dyed print has been digitised and can be used rather big, e.g. for curtains, bedding or wallpaper.
Creative people aren't always the best sales(wo)men. I really have to restrain myself from creating more and more work and staying in my (isolated) garden studio. It's promotion time! I've blocked the month of September for doing just that. Starting off with visiting a nice fair in the Netherlands this weekend - Show Up. I will also be attending Maison & Objet in Paris for a few days next weekend. Below: some of the flyers I'll be bringing, showing new designs and realised projects
I'd love to tell you more about my designs. Please contact me if you would like to see designs in detail or have a look at mywebsite to see other work. Best regards, Dieuwertje.
