Lawrence Park Tennis Club
"Between the Lines"
 May 12, 2015

While many of us enjoy Mixed Doubles, sometimes it's nice to play Ladies' or Men's Doubles for a change of pace. And so we have our "unisex" Round Robins coming up in the next two weeks where intermediate and adult members at all levels can play two hours of social doubles in an organized format run by our Games Chair, Cecelia Thng. Players will rotate every half hour (based on turnout) and enjoy some light refreshments during the evening. No sign-up is required, but please show up at 6:45pm so we can determine how many players we have and organize the games before you hit the courts. There will be no rain dates for these round robins.

Here are the details:
  • Ladies' Round Robin -- Wednesday, May 20th, arrive 6:45, play 7:00 - 9:00 pm
  • Men's Round Robin -- Wednesday, May 27th, arrive 6:45, play 7:00 - 9:00 pm
If you're a new member, this is a good way to meet your fellow Club members and players and possibly forge new tennis partnerships. For returning members, come down to the courts to renew old friendships and make new ones in a fun tennis setting.

If you have any questions, please contact Cecelia at
Yikes... second week of the season and second time the Club was not properly locked up after play...

If you are the last to leave at any time of day and are not sure what to do, the lock up procedures are posted on the door into the Clubhouse and inside the Clubhouse beside the main light switch. It is not sufficient to lock the main entry gate as that does not adequately protect the courts, clubhouse and club property from theft or vandalism.
  1. Please sign the "Sign Out" book hanging just inside the Clubhouse door.
  2. The court gates have chains and padlocks each of which should be secured when you leave the courts.
  3. The Clubhouse lights and TV should be off and the entrance door locked with the key (marked Clubhouse) that can be found in the wooden box hanging to the right of the entrance door.
  4. The wooden box that contains the keys should be locked using the combination lock that secures it's door (the combination has to be set on the lock in order to snap it shut before spinning the numbers and is the same as the combination required to gain entrance to the Club).
  5. If it is night, the court lights should be turned off.
  6. The main entrance gate must be locked with combination lock.
Note that you will need to know the combination for both entering and locking the Club. If you are unsure of the combination, it is available when you login to your member profile through the website (on the first page that pops up after you login under a heading "Club Access").

If you need any assistance with the lock up (or entry) procedure, please feel free to call any member of the Board (numbers are in the Directory); we are happy to walk you through it or set up a time for a lesson.
