Lawrence Park Tennis Club
"Between the Lines: Junior Edition"
 April 2, 2016

Junior Tennis at LPTC -
registration is open!

Spring is in the air and we're looking forward to another warm and sunny season on the courts at Lawrence Park Tennis Club.

First up... our
spring lesson program for our junior members:
  • Choose either 4pm or 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and / or 9am on Saturday (new this year: a Saturday lesson slot for those who've just got too much going on after school during the week)
  • Starts the week of May 9th
  • Runs for 7 weeks
  • Lots of familiar instructors will be back, led by Joe, our Pro
  • Cost is $10/lesson and you can register for one or more lessons per week
  • Open (free!) drop-in from 10am to 11am on Saturdays for fun play and drills with other juniors
For those who are super keen... a high performance program and a summer camp offered on LPTC courts by Joe Novak:
  • High performance runs Fridays from 4pm to 6pm for 7 weeks starting May 6th
  • Camp starts the week of June 27th
  • Details available from Joe at Pro@LawrenceParkTennisClub.ca (and sign up is directly with Joe)
And come fall...
  • As with our spring program, choose 4pm or 5pm Monday through Thursday or 9am on Saturday
  • Starts the week of September 12th
  • Runs for 5 weeks
  • Cost is $10/lesson and you can register for one or more lessons per week
  • Open (free!) drop-in from 10am to 11am on Saturdays for fun play and drills with other juniors

Opening day festivities will take place May 7th (rain date is May 8th) and all junior members are invited to come down to the courts between 9am and 11am for a party to start the season right! A great time to connect with tennis friends from last year, high five your instructors, and swing that racquet for the first time in maybe a few months.

The
Junior League teams will compete again this spring in the Tennis Toronto league. If you're interested in either the U18 or U12 team, please let our pro, Joe, know at Pro@LawrenceParkTennisClub.ca. Matches take place Saturdays starting April 30 and end with a city-wide tournament at the end of the season on June 18. Match times are from 5pm to 6pm (U12) or 6pm to 7pm (U18). It's a great chance to travel to other clubs, play with other players and learn a thing or two about competitive doubles tennis. GO TEAM!

We need you! Our volunteer committee has more good ideas than helping hands. We need help with communications, junior membership, junior social planning, team logistics and more. There's nothing better than seeing the kids' smiles when they're taking part in a great program.... Please help! Email our Junior Program Director, Tim Dalton at JuniorPrograms@LawrenceParkTennisClub.ca.

How to Register...

We are using our online registration system to renew so here is what you'll need to do.

FOR CHILDREN WERE LTPC MEMBERS IN 2015:
  • Review the new membership options for our Junior members on the 'Learn / Junior Lesson Program' page of our website and pick the option that works best for you.
  • Go to the 'Members' tab at the top of our website or click on this link to go there directly: http://lawrenceparktennisclub.ca/membership/.
  • Click on the 'Member Login' button.
  • You will be directed to a page requiring a 'User Name' and 'Password'.
  • If you don't recall those details, click on the words "Retrieve my Account Details" below the password box.
  • When asked, enter the email address at which you are receiving this Between The Lines newsletter (as that is the email you are registered with at LPTC). This will cause the system to send you an email with your username and a secure, private password. (If more than one family member shares the same email, you will receive separate emails with each username and password.)
  • Check your email inbox; you should receive your LPTC credentials (username and password) within a few minutes in your email inbox (and if you can't see it there, check your junk/spam folder).
  • If you are still on the 'Retrieve Your Credentials' page, click the 'login' link to take you back to the Members' Area Login page with the 'User Name' and 'Password' boxes.
  • Enter your username and password and click the 'Login' button. You will need to do this separately for each child.
  • Any data transferred from last year will appear on your profile. Please check it very carefully and add the additional information requested (some information - including Gender and Year of Birth - is required by the City of Toronto in order to apply for our permit).
  • Click the 'Continue' button and carefully read the clause that appears. If you agree, click the box beside the clause and your membership registration options will appear. Choose the membership that is right for you and click 'Confirm'.
  • Your membership application has now been submitted and you have two payment options.
    • If you choose to pay online, click the orange 'Pay Now' button and you will be directed to the secure PayPal site where you can pay either by credit card or from an existing PayPal account (if you have a PayPal account, you will have to login in to your PayPal account).
    • If you choose to pay by cheque, please make it out to Lawrence Park Tennis Club and send it to:
      • Lawrence Park Tennis Club, P.O.Box 1225, Station K, Toronto, Ont. M4P 3E4
  • After your payment has been received and verified, you will get a confirmation email from LPTC (this might take a few days, or longer if you are mailing a cheque).
  • Once you've completed your payment, please remember to click 'logout' at the bottom of the page.
  • Congratulations; your budding tennis star is signed up!
FOR CHILDREN WERE NOT LTPC MEMBERS IN 2015:
  • If you have any other Juniors who are interested in our program this coming summer, please add them at: https://lptc.ca/register/start.aspx. That will generate a new registration for your child and permit you to enter all their details.
A FEW IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR OUR JUNIOR MEMBERS:
  • We will send out a note to all registered juniors in mid-April asking for your day and time preferences and any other considerations that you'd like to mention as we set the schedule of who plays when.
  • Please change your system-generated password and keep it and your username somewhere safe.  You will need them both to log into your profile to make any changes as well as for next year to log in and renew. To do this, login with your username and password, click the 'My Profile' link on the left side of the page, click the 'My Password' button at the top of the page and follow the instructions.
  • Please renew as soon as possible to ensure your junior player has a membership spot for 2016 . We are already building a wait list of new junior members and we would hate to run out of space.
  • The start of the season is May 7th, weather permitting and Junior celebrations will take place that morning - mark your calendar!
Of course, if you have any questions on our junior programs, please feel free to email our Junior Program Director, Tim Dalton at JuniorPrograms@LawrenceParkTennisClub.ca. If you have any questions on registering, please email Margot Willoughby at Membership@LawrenceParkTennisClub.ca or, if you prefer, call 416.400.9045.

Here's to the end of the winter season... we can't wait to see your kids on the courts in May.

AND FOR OLDER SIBLINGS?

New this year, we have a handful of ‘intermediate’ spots available to new members in the 17-22 age bracket. So if you know any young adults who’d like to join, please let them know that spots may be available this summer and they should get their names on the wait list as soon as possible: Join our Wait List.
