Royal News: Issue 87

Well that’s the Easter weekend done and dusted. Let’s hope the third wave was not triggered and we can get on with a vaccination program before the next wave happens.
Wednesday evening sailing is over, we lost a few evenings to no wind in the end but good fun was had by all. A great effort by our Rear Commodore Graham Els ably assisted by Rob Main Baily had the lawns come alive like the old days.
The new committee boat is waiting for a renaming ceremony with The Bruce a strong contender. Out of respect and gratitude I feel it is a fitting tribute to a very generous donor who enabled us to buy the Bruce Townsend. We are taking more suggestions so please continue.
Thanks to the senior members who put up the money to continue our membership of the ICOYC. While the whole club benefits from this association it is platinum membership that gives reciprocity to some of the most prestigious clubs in the world. Think about upgrading on the next membership cycle.
Your gencom is looking at an overhaul of our current membership categories so get involved and see what your Club can do for you.
Happy Birthday to new member Nic Steyn, another great party supported by his many friends.
Friday 30 April 3pm a team meeting to discuss the way forward for Vasco Da Gama clock. All interested parties welcome. I will be inviting members who were involved in the original plan separately. Let’s think out the box and create some value to this significant historic piece.
Our monthly Quiz Night is back, with the first challenge taking place this evening at 6:30pm. There will be another one hosted next month, keep a look out for the date announcement.

The monthly members Club Draw will be back again on Friday 30th of April.

Ladies look out for the next LADIES tea hosted by Althea Kroone on the 22nd of May.

The Memorial race will be held on the 5th & 6th of June. Exiting details to follow!

Your Commodore
Leo Kroone
