Study: Poor-Quality Mobile Homes Exact Huge Financial Toll on their Low-Income Occupants in Appalachia - Manufactured homes may still be unaffordable for many low-income residents, according to a report by the Virginia Center for Housing Research (VCHR) at Virginia Tech. The study looks at the manufactured housing landscape in the Appalachian regions of Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia, finding that manufactured home residents are more likely to be cost burdened and that high utility bills are a major driver of housing costs.
Last words for September 2016 – Congratulations to Golden State Manufactured-Home Owners League (GSMOL) on passage of AB 587, which was signed by Governor Jerry Brown in September. The bill creates an abatement program for mobile home residents who cannot transfer title into their names due to delinquent taxes and fees that may have been incurred by prior owners.
If there are stories or legislative successes from your state you would like to share through our E-blasts, please contact NMHOA at: email@example.com. Your story will inspire and educate others.
