The UC Center for Business Analytics is proud to announce Glenn Wegryn as its new Executive Director.

Wegryn brings more than 30 years of global experience
in analytics to the Center. He spent 28 years at Procter & Gamble, most notably as the creator and leader of P&G’s award-winning Supply Chain Analytics group and currently is Principal of Analytic Impact LLC, an analytics consultancy.

Wegryn is a three-time finalist for the Franz Edelman Prize awarded annually by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) for advanced analytics applications. In 1996, 2006 and 2010, Wegryn and his team were recognized for optimization techniques that saved P&G hundreds of millions of dollars.

Data Visualization: Sept 18 & 19
Data visualization experts will show how to use data visualization to analyze complex data sets, create visual insights from data, design for effective visualization, use data visualization software, and create dashboards that monitor organizational status.

Business Intelligence Symposium: Oct 15

Data Mining: Nov 5 & 6
Material in this  course will be accessible to everyone, but novice practitioners are encouraged to become familiar with analytics software packages (ie "R"-see links on course page).  This two day  workshop will focus on the challenges of building predictive models in the real world and applications of techniques that are applied to develop models.

Introduction to Data Management: Nov 19 & 20
This two day short course will allow novice users the chance to learn skills, syntax and techniques to perform analytics and data mining on data sets.  Participants will learn database design and data rules, how to use SQL to interact with data, and how to get data into a well-designed data base.  25% of the class will be instructor supervised hands-on practical examples and solving of common business data  problems.

Intro to Data Management information


Advanced Data Management: Dec 10 & 11
This class will build on the material from the introductory course and is suitable for those with intermediate level skills or higher in data management and SQL programming.  This course will leverage an individual's strengths in business, information technology and analytics. 25% of the class will be instructor supervised hands-on practical examples and solving of common business data  problems.
