The Legislative Landscape

This week, the Georgia General Assembly held several budget subcommittee hearings. The Georgia Forestry Association’s government affairs team represented the forestry community in policy discussions impacting water buffers, oversized and overweight trucking, and assessing the value of timberland.  

As the legislature reconvenes next week, the GFA will continue to focus on the priority issues outlined in the Week One Capitol Forestry Report

Trump Selects Former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as Agriculture Secretary

This week, President Donald Trump announced his nomination of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. During his two terms as governor, Purdue led efforts and initiatives that will impact the forestry community for generations.
