In sadness, we share the news that Pastor Sefo Jeffrey Fata-Misionare died on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
Pastor Sefo was a local pastor in the Desert Southwest Conference. He began his ministry as a local preacher for Metotisi Samoa in the Samoa Conference. In the Desert Southwest Conference, he became a Certified Lay Minister in 2017 and a Licensed Local Pastor in 2020. He served at Journey United Methodist Church in Las Vegas. He is survived by his spouse Paula and their son Melchizedek.
Pastor Sefo’s faith was deep and wide. He would see the Lord at work in all things. Even when sharing about his challenging health difficulties, it was always about the marvelous and miraculous work the Lord is doing in his life. He would not point to the ailment, but to the healing work of the Lord. He would say, “Isn’t God amazing!” His last and recent sermon with Journey UMC was a call for us to stay focused upon God, and not the problems or frustrations in life. His message, which is even more impactful today, came out of Philippians 3:10-16 – “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Pastor Sefo’s life and ministry among the people at Journey have fulfilled at the highest level his call and desire “to serve God and the Samoan people”.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Journey United Methodist Church, 6450 Stewart Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89110. A burial will follow at Bunker Mortuary.
