Spring into Spring with CTRC

Take time this month to get out into the garden and enjoy the sun! We can help with getting the kids outside too - enrol now in our October school holiday day camps. Children will have the opportunity to learn new skills with riding and caring for horses - or scratch up on some old skills.
Next School Holiday Camp – October 4th, 5th & 6th.

Tell Your Friends – Come and have Fun!!
The smallest things can have the biggest effect! A massive thank you to Tahna Lambert who has generously donated a bunch of colourful riding helmet covers to CTRC!! We are so excited to watch our young riders choose which one they would like to ride in!! Maybe a different one each week? Many thanks Tahna for making our lessons even brighter!!

Morgan's Story

Morgan has been riding with us for just three months, and has a double dink lesson with M'liss riding behind her on Banana.

After each lesson she is helped off Banana and taken to his head to give him a thank-you pat. In the last couple of weeks Morgan has grown in confidence and now walks on her own, totally unassisted to give Banana his pat.

Morgan's mum Hayley says that her weekly lessons feel like they have been going for much longer as it is part of their weekly routine, and that for them each week coming to CTRC it feels like coming home!

Congratulations Morgan and Hayley! We hope you are with the CTRC family for many years to come.

August 1st was the horses Birthday and all horses at CTRC were celebrated on this day. They were even treated to being sung Happy Birthday by the Mt Hawthorn group!

Lucky Banana, Atacanter, Spud, Spike, Dainhill and Two Socks all enjoyed a carrot or two off their Birthday Cake - and Dan actually polished the cake off!!

WADSA Awards

We have nominated some of our riders for the WASDA awards again this year!! They are being presented on the 22nd of September at the Leisurelife Centre.

Congratulations to Sara Cann for being nominated for the Sports star of the year for her efforts at the Special Olympics last year. Jo Blomquist has been nominated for the Coach of the year for the development of the Ride Therapy program, Debra Colling for Volunteer of the year and our riders who represented us at the RDA Dressage Champs this year. They were Sara, Mercedes Portaro, Jaye Barnesby-Buie, and Eloise Bolam.

We are so thrilled at our members being recognised for their hard work and will be keeping our fingers crossed for September 22nd!

Goodluck to CTRC's good friend Sharon Jarvis as she competes in the 2016 Rio Paralympics. Congratulations for getting selected and we can't wait to watch her on the television representing Australia!

Need some manure to get those plants blooming? Well, come and see us. Thanks to Andrew for giving our "manure for sale" sign a colourful makeover!
This month we have played host to 8 students from Notre Dame University completing their community service program with us. Pictured is Gillian and Cassidy and below is their thoughts on CTRC:

"At the start of the month, we (two Notre Dame students, Gillian and Cassidy, studying a Bachelor of Primary Education, and specialising in special needs children) embarked on a service learning journey with the Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre.

The reason we decided to come to the Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre was to challenge ourselves by conquering our fears of horses and to be among people with special needs. This experience has helped us grow and learn in many ways. We have been taught to care for the horses, prepare them for lessons and how to run lessons and communicate with the clients. We have been so grateful to do our service learning at this truly amazing organisation, who not only care for the horses but give out so much to the community. We felt a part of the family environment from the time we walked through the gate and were welcomed with open arms. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who made this possible.

Many thanks,

Gillian Morrell and Cassidy Quantrill"
Upcoming AGM:
