March Madness!

We are nearing the end of term one for 2017 and just getting into the thick of things! Check out our March riders of the months, read about our past events and register for the upcoming camp days.

This month CTRC has been appointed as an Approved NDIS Service Provider from 2017 to 2021!

Clients who are not funded by NDIS are, as always, most welcome to attend CTRC. If you have any queries regarding your current or future funding for your lessons please give Jacqui a call on 0417124352. We are currently in transition from Block and Block Individual funding through to LIF and NDIS individual funding. If you live in an area that is not eligible for NDIS funding until 2018 or 2019, do not worry! If you are currently riding with us and you are eligible, your lessons will continue to be funded until you roll over to NDIS.

The centre is always welcoming new riders, volunteers and members - so pass on our details to a friend, if you think they belong with us!
Volunteer opportunity: We are currently looking for volunteers for our office, doing administrative work for the centre. Please give us a call on (08) 9384 3492 if you think you are suitable for this opportunity!

Sponsor or Volunteer for us at the 2017 Mothers Day Showjumping Event!

We are proud to be putting on the CTRC Fundraiser Showjumping Day at PH & PC Grounds, John Sanders Dr, Osborne Park again this year (pencil the 7th of May in your diaries!)

Moving on from our first Showjumping fundraiser held in 2016 we are going bigger and better in 2017!

To help make this day a great as possible we will need class sponsors and lots of volunteers to help on the day. We would also like to see as many of our riders, riding as possible! The program will be released shortly, but if you can help out with sponsorship, some muscle for a couple of hours, catering or supply some prizes – we would love to hear from you! Do not worry if you have no experience with these type of events, there will be a job for everyone.

CTRC Members in the Community

On the 18th & 19th of this month, we had team CTRC compete in the 'Go for 2&5 Dryandra Tetrathlon 2017' which involves running, shooting, swimming and riding a cross country course. As we expected (because they are all superstars), our ladies rocked the competition and represented fantastically!

Monika Magalengo came away with 2nd place, Yvonne Ardley in at 3rd place, Hannah Henry pulling in the 6th place and Nadine Garbiels (our Volunteer of the month!) finishing in 7th place! Congratulations ladies, super efforts!

Inspirational Rider of the Month

A massive congratulations to centre-favourite, Michael Bunney, for becoming our March Inspirational Rider of the Month.

Mike has been riding horses for the past 23 years and came to CTRC with his pony, Misty, some 20 years ago. Mike loves riding  and everything to do with horses, and during his riding career has accomplished many achievements, including winning the Junior Disabled Sports Star of the Year in 2005.

Mike now takes part in our Ride Therapy program with Jo Blomquist, and every week turns up with an enthusiastic sunny disposition and puts 100% effort into his riding. This month Mike has come back to riding after a short break due to an injury and has got back into riding on his new horse, Blackie, and has come back better than ever! Mike has been helping train his Therapy horse, and they are forging a wonderful partnership together.

It is an inspiration to watch Mike's courage and determination every lesson, and we are always thankful to watch his riding journey.

Achiever of the Month

Introducing our Achiever of the Month, the lovely Sylvie Erickson!

Sylvie was chosen for this award, as during this first term her riding skills have improved immensely and she is now ready to change horses!

She is always very well-mannered and shows great community and sisterhood spirit around the yard, demonstrating a wonderful consideration for other riders.  She is always willing to lend a hand, and was a fabulous helper at last weekend's Mosman Park Community Fair, where CTRC provided Pony Rides for the afternoon.

Keep reaching for the stars Sylvie!!

Volunteer of the Month

The willingness to volunteer is a selfless act and this month we are recognising the outstanding contribution of our volunteer, Nadine Gabriels

"I first came to CTRC in 2012 to ride and help out. I quickly learned that there were many jobs I could help with. I started off being part of the holiday programs at the centre, assisting with all the children in not only their riding but also in grooming and caring for the horses. Any spare time I can afford, I prefer to spend down at the stables.

By now, I know all the routines and i enjoy the social aspects of being involved at CTRC. Whatever needs to be done, I enjoy myself doing it with the many other volunteers that have become close friends over the years."

Nadine throughout this first term has given so much of her spare time to help out at lessons and is always completing tasks with a happy and helpful disposition. Two weeks ago, Nadine was also part of our team who took part in the Dryandra Tetrathlon, as "expected" all girls went clear cross country and all came home with placings overall.

Community Fundraising

We are so thankful to Randal Humich, who has donated jars of honey (yummo!!) as a fundraiser for our centre!

The high quality, locally produced, natural honey is $8 per jar and a hundred percent of  funds goes to CTRC. Jars are available from the CTRC office or can be delivered to the Midland / Gidge area.

We also have 8 new chooks at our stables, so if you are needing fresh eggs - come on down and support the centre!
