LOVE INC OF THE CEDAR VALLEY

January 2015

Thank you for your contribution and support in 2014! It was a great year at Love INC and we're looking forward to seeing what God does to bless our community through you again in 2015!

This is a monthly newsletter to stay up-to-date on what's new at Love INC of the Cedar Valley.

In this issue pay close attention to our upcoming Clearinghouse Volunteer Gathering on Tues, Jan. 27 AND a new study we'd like you to participate in called "Redemptive Compassion" - a biblical philosophy on how we can offer holistic help to those we serve. See more information below.

Do you ever wonder if the help we provide to the under-resourced in our community is making a long-term difference? Is it actually helping those in need? I think all of us have wondered this a time or two while serving with Love INC.

We would like to create a safe space to wrestle through some of these ideas together as a Love INC community. All Love INC partner churches are invited to participate.

The study is written by Lois Tupyi who has been an Executive Director for Love INC of the Treasure Valley in Idaho for 15 years. She wrote this study as a way to encourage Christ followers to re-think the ways they are serving their communities. This study will encourage us to read scripture, ask important questions and move closer to serving our community holistically and with long term goals in mind.

The six core principles in this study are:
  1. Everyone has value
  2. We are called to invest relationally in each other
  3. Everyone has capacity and potential
  4. Mutual participation is important
  5. We must use wisdom and discernment
  6. What we do should transform
If you would like to join us, please RSVP on our website or reply to this email.

Transformational classes begin again on Tues, Feb. 3. Ten weeks of classes for our clients include: Budgeting, Living & Growing, and a Fresh Start Bible Study.

Ways that you or a small group can participate: volunteer or provide a meal.
A local couple are the primary caregivers for three of their grandchildren. They struggle to provide everything that the family needs to thrive.

We all know how beneficial it is for a family to be able to consistently eat dinner together. They desperately wanted this time together but lacked a table where everyone could sit together. The kids were also growing quickly and some were sharing dilapidated beds. It was increasingly necessary for the elementary and middle school-aged kids to have their own twin beds.

One of our large item delivery volunteers wanted to donate his dining table and chairs. He, his wife and three young children decided to make the delivery as a family. They loaded their large dining table and chairs onto their trailer, stopped at the Love INC warehouse to pick up three twin mattresses and a small dresser, and went on their way to bless this family in need.

It turned into a beautiful picture of a thriving family giving their resources to help another family furnish a home where theirs can thrive too.
