March 2015

Spring is here! The days are better when the temperature is above 30 aren't they?.

We took advantage of the lower call volume in January and February to host our first Redemptive Compassion class, gather together our Clearinghouse and Community volunteers and refocus our financial GAP ministry. We're also right in the middle of our winter Transformational Ministry classes. Only four more weeks to go!

March brings us even more new opportunities. Read on to find out more ...
We just successfully finished a 6-week class talking about the biblical perspective on how the Church is called to holistically help people in need.

We have two more opportunities this spring where you can take this class at our partner churches:

Immanuel Lutheran Church (234 Hackett Road, Waterloo 50701)
6 week class on Thursday evenings starting Thursday, April 9
6:30-7:30 p.m.

Prairie Lakes Church Waterloo for women only (118 High Street, Waterloo 50703)

What is Love INC? And how are they serving our community?

Join us for an event for more information about: who we are, how we are unique to other charitable organizations, how you can volunteer your time or donate to our mission.

Monday, April 27
7:00 p.m.
Prairie Lakes Church Waterloo

118 High Street
Waterloo, IA 50703
(Share a building with First Lutheran Church in the parking lot of East High School)

Two great volunteer opportunities:

1. As the weather warms up we will need groups who are willing to help our clients who qualify for one-time yard clean-up or ongoing mowing. This is a perfect opportunity for youth groups, small groups or individuals who are interested.

2. We have a client who is seeking help to learn how to read. We're looking for one female who would be interested to meet this client once per week or every other week at her home or at the Waterloo Public Library.

Email if you're interested.
A nurse at a local hospital called Love INC to let us know about a patient who needed transportation to care for her newborn baby.

We talked to the patient and found out she was a young new mom to a baby born at 27 weeks. Her baby was immediately transported to Cedar Rapids for care, but the mother couldn't afford to get there to care for her.

We problem solved with her - if she could find a car through an extended family member or friend, we could provide two gas cards for her transportation expenses.

She arranged for a car, picked up her gas cards at Cedar Valley Community Church the next day and was on her way to see her baby within 24 hours. What a blessing to provide the means for this mom to be reunited with her newborn.
You can now donate to Love INC online! Easily make a one-time donation or set it up to repeat automatically.

Financial gifts of any size help further God's mission to help people holistically in this community.
