November 2014

We had quite an October around here!

As you know, we hosted our first annual Transforming Lives event and a workshop with Lois Tupyi the following day. Thank you for attending! We learned more about "Redemptive Compassion" - a biblical perspective on how we can offer holistic help to those in need. We will continue this conversation through a bible study format in late January. We will have more information for you next month.

In this newsletter you'll find news about our holiday partnerships and volunteer opportunities.

A young family recently moved to town. The couple works and goes to school making an effort to make ends meet for their new and growing family.
They spend their money carefully but recently felt a hit when they needed a car repair costing a few hundred dollars. The extra money was hard to come by. They sought help from family, paid some of their own and asked for help from Love INC.
Through the gracious network of churches, Love INC was able to send a check directly to the auto repair shop. A few days later, the young family paid the rest of the amount and were able to drive their car home. What a blessing to be able to meet a crucial need for this family.

It's time to restock our local kitchen essentials GAP Ministry at Grace Fellowship Church! Help our community set their tables for Thanksgiving.

We're partnering with Prairie Lakes Church Waterloo this Christmas by sending some of our clients to their Christmas store on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Prairie Lakes Church Waterloo hosts a store - available by invitation only - where gifts for children ages 1-18 can be purchased at 80% off retail price. Each ticket-holder is able to purchase a maximum of three gifts.

Christian Community Developers have found that the opportunity for families and parents to purchase their own gifts at an affordable rate helps provide dignity at Christmastime.

If you or members of your church would like to donate gifts to the store or would like to volunteer, you can:
  1. Purchase and donate new, unwrapped gifts. Drop them off at Prairie Lakes Church Waterloo Campus (118 High Street, Waterloo 50703 - shared building with First Lutheran Church) by Sunday, December 7. Or arrange to drop them off at the Love INC office.
  2. Volunteer to serve at the Christmas Store by emailing
Orchard Hill Church will be continuing their Christmas in Walnut tradition this year. They also will receive new, unwrapped gifts and volunteers. Check out their website for more information.
