Our next Transformation Ministry session is coming up! We'll begin this session on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

This fall we will be offering just one class called Affirming Potential. This is a 10-week group class helping individuals start on a life-changing, life-long journey to face and accept their past, better understand the present, and embrace their future. Participants will be challenged to evaluate themselves and their lives from a new perspective—a Godly perspective.

We need help from our partner churches to provide meals for these class sessions. This is a great serving opportunity for individuals as well as small groups. Find out more details at the Take Them a Meal website.

Support Love INC by attending Prince of Peace Lutheran Church's Craft Extravaganza on September 10, 2016.

Enjoy bounce houses, kids' carnival games, a craft show, a bake sale, a car show and door prizes.

Admission is free! A portion of all the proceeds benefit Love INC.

An upcoming Church Ministry Coordinator (CMC) Gathering is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22 from 12-1 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church (4820 Oster Parkway, Cedar Falls). Lunch will be served!

We offer this gathering three times per year as a chance for each of our partner churches to send a representative to learn more about what's new at Love INC and how their church can continue to partner well with our ministry.

When volunteers are available, we offer home repair services to those who qualify. Often under-resourced, elderly and/or disabled individuals have a difficult time keeping up with small repairs around their home. In these cases we utilize our volunteers to help our neighbors with their home repair needs.

The projects typically range from replacing exterior doors, fixing porch stairs, installing shower grab bars or repairing holes in walls or floors. We avoid offering volunteer help for anything related to electrical work or plumbing and we always send at least two volunteers to each job.

If you're interested in volunteering in this capacity, let us know! Fill out our volunteer form on our website or call 319-266-1264.
This month we got an opportunity to provide a safer environment for a child with special needs in our community.

We were contacted by a family with four children (ages 12, 9, 4 and 1) who recently moved to Waterloo. Their 9 year old has a brain injury and he functions at a 3-4 year old level. The parents are married, have full-time jobs, and own a home, but they bring home limited income. In order to create a safe backyard environment that would give their son a safe place to grow and explore they needed to enclose their backyard fence and the expense was too much.

They had exhausted all other programs and agencies before calling Love INC. One of our partner churches jumped at this opportunity by providing materials and digging the holes necessary for the remaining posts. After learning that the couple was capable of doing part of the work, they left some of the materials and tasks behind for the family to complete it on their own. Although it could appear contrary, this is truly a gift of independence, ownership and dignity.

The fence is now complete and the family is incredibly grateful for the support they received from the local Church.
