Competency-based Diploma Program at ISSIA Cutting-Edge Model for Others to Follow
“. . .the new Diploma program in Nursing at the Institute of Higher Studies in Nursing (ISSI) in Kinshasa, DRC,  is a pilot project that could be replicated across the country and the team of instructors at ISSI are a model for others to follow.”
On a recent visit to DRC, Marie Hatem concluded that the new competency-based* diploma program in nursing at the Institute for Higher Studies in Nursing (ISSI) had evolved to the point that it could serve as a model for other institutions in the country.  Marie Hatem and the instructors at ISSI continually reviewed and revised the program to bring it to its current high standard.
The Master’s program in Health Administration at ISSI continues with 42 participants at various stages in their studies. Twelve students have graduated.  Some of the local professors can now teach in the Master’s program.

*Competency-based programs guarantee that the graduate can assume her professional responsibilities in whatever position she obtains to the full satisfaction of her patients and her employer.
