What has Richard been up to this summer?
After another summer of watercolor painting in the west of France, it is good to be back home with friends and family.
Now, back at The Artist’s Loft in Wake Forest, I’m concentrating on oil painting.
As occurs every year about this time, I am receiving requests for pet portraits as holiday gifts. This is so much fun. Each portrait is as different as the pets portrayed. Fur, fins and feathers all require different techniques and a separate vocabulary of brush strokes. Each painting involves unique challenges.
Also, coming up, are several exhibits and outdoor painting experiences. I’m looking forward to traveling the state with friends to find new subjects to render in watercolor and in oil paint.
In the coming year I anticipate working on a series of figure paintings. One series will be about people working hard at their jobs. Another series that I’m excited about is paintings of brave and strong minded women as heroes.
Please come by the Artist’s Loft and visit with us. Remember, art walk is this Friday, October 5th.
It’s not too late to discuss having a portrait of your favorite four-legged, feathered or finned friend for the holidays.
