Dear praying friend,
Thank you for being part of our prayer support.
Please share these requests with your prayer network.
Peace and joy in Christ,
Stephan and Carina

Prayer Focus:
We think in particular of Karen Strydom, officially Mission Japan’s new missionary for Japan. We pray for her preparation (spiritual, cultural, practical etc.). We pray for her program of recruitment for prayer, spiritual, emotional and financial support in Gauteng (her home province), the Free State, Western and Southern Cape and other parts of our country. We pray for her family, friends, congregation, Presbytery and Synod who are preparing to send her to Japan by early 2016.
We thank the Lord for a most meaningful and blessed visit of 7 Japanese ministers to the DRC Family in SA. It certainly provided them with excellent insight of our church and contributed wonderfully towards a deeper relationship between our two sister churches. They visited congregations in Stellenbosch, Swellendam, George, Bloemfontein, Pretoria (RCA) and Johannesburg, had good discussions with various groups of ministers, could attend the Synod of the Western Cape, as well as the 150th anniversary celebrations of the DRC in the Free State, where their input was invaluable.
Stephan and Carina’s Monthly Program:
Sunday 7 June: Carina presents Happy Kids
Tuesday 9 June: Stephan meets with RCJ Theological Seminary's Governing Board re. his appointment as fulltime lecturer in Practical Theoolgy (Pastoral Care and Counselling), possibly as from April 2016.
Tuesday 9 June to Thursday 11 June: Stephan attends the annual Synod Retreat for all church officers (ministers, elders and deacons). Carina stays behind with the children. Please pray for her too.
Sunday 14 June: Stephan preaches (in Japanese) at RCJ Tokushima-West congregation
Sunday 21 June: Carina presents Happy Kids
Saturday 27 June: Kingdom Kids for Christ, comprising Christian children and their parents, spend the day together.
Sunday 28 June: Stephan preaches (in Japanese) at the morning service of the RCJ Takamatsu-East congregation. In the afternoon he preaches (in English) at the English Fellowship at RCJ Tokushima congregation
Other Matters:
  • We think of Stephan and his preparation for his important interview with the RCJ Theological Seminary's Board. He was also requested to compile another report on the lessons the DRC has learned since women had been accepted in church office (of minister) since 25 years ago. This is important, considering the proposed official and practical implementation of women in church office as from October 2015 (as a result of a RCJ Synod resolution of 2014).
  • We pray for Carina in her huge and demanding daily task of home schooling for Annlie and Cornelius, in addition to her housekeeping and care of all four children (without domestic help) and her involvement in their community and congregation.
  • We also pray for Gys, Linda and Linie Olivier, our teacher-missionaries at SEIWA Christian Girls’ School in Kochi City, for their marriage and family life, their teaching and witness in the school with 120 mostly non-Christian girls, their church involvement especially at Yamada English Fellowship and their witness among their contacts with so many non-Christian Japanese. They also lead an Open Day at the school on Saturday 13 June, please pray specifically for this.
