Akesis Balance Update

Last year I read about the "law of attraction" and then I came across Carl Jung's theory of "syncronicity". I can best explain it to be the massive mess of coincidence that we come across in our daily lives. Over the past year I have started to put his into practice and see if it actually works. In my coaching practice I often see people struggling in their lives and always being down on their luck, they may often get over looked within the family or workplace leaving them slightly depressed and wanting so much more.
The same applies for general well-being and health and I've even seen it manifest as struggling to find a loving relationship or strengthen a bond with children as they grow and become more independent. Straight up I'm sharing with a massive amount of conviction and love... I'd like to say that wanting it isn't enough, you have to live it. You have to send it out in order to receive it. It has to be heart felt and you have to want to give it away unconditionally without any expectation of social contract or it coming back to you. The miracle is that it very quickly is returned to you without a reference on time. It just happens.
  • If you want more love, send out more love.
  • If you want more time then give more of your time.
  • If you want better health then find people that you can share with and encourage them on their journey and it will be returned to you.
  • If you want more appreciation then give it freely to others.
In the spirit of Akesis Balance Mark and I intend to give more education in order to receive more education.
For us it comes back as life lessons that we are then able to impart and fast track for others.
If there are people out there that are interested in self- development and learning for the betterment of the Akesis Balance community please contact us as we would love to have some guest blogs published to our page. We want to draw on the experiences of our friends to impart their knowledge for the social, emotional, spiritual, physical growth of the community. Email to:

Favourite Product of the Month:

Something that we use daily is a white light alarm clock. During the winter months this is especially good because instead of waking up to the abrupt screaming of an alarm our alarm clock gently increases the amount of light in our room to mimic the sunrise which brings us out of the deeper part of a sleep cycle before the sound alarm (bird noises) wakes us up. The settings are really personal. You choose the time duration over which waking light happens along with the noise of the alarm, the loudness of the alarm and the intensity of the light. We also use it as a reading light as it has settings to be a piercing white light or a much softer cream light which is much better for melatonin production pre bedtime. There is heaps of great information about various alarms like this one in different brands but I went with this one. While you are looking into this alarm clock you might come across some information about circadian rhythms and how both moon and sunrise play vital roles in all living things here on earth. Just click on the product picture below if you are interested in additional information:

Blog of the Month:

There is no doubt about the depth of the creative mind behind this blog. He was the first friend we made when we moved to Sydney for work and we thank the universe for the fortunate meeting.
Stuart specialises in functional fitness and play based exercise and how to incorporate movement into everyday activities. Stuart focuses his natural movement sessions on trying to help us develop confidence in our own bodies abilities but after our play sessions he passes some of his insights and original thoughts on to us. I like to refer to him as my “Zen guru”. I’ve attached a video so you can get a sense of his personality:

The link below to his blog fits in with my favourite product suggestion as I am all about reducing stress and getting a good night’s sleep.

Chocolate Cherry Bar

(grain, dairy, refined sugar free, and soy free) LCHF and Paleo

  • 200g Cocao butter melted
  • 100g  Almond meal
  • 2 tbsp cocao
  • 150g desiccated coconut
  • 50g of Cocao Nibs
  • 50g Chia seed
  • 100g Sweetened dried chopped Cherries
  •  Optional- 50g of Mejool dates if required for sweetness

  1. Melt cocoa butter then add the almond meal, cacao powder, desiccated coconut, and chia seeds, optional dates and blend them together until combine to a grainy batter.
  2. Add in the Cacao nibs, cherries and mix together
  3. Pour into a baking paper lined tin (28cm x 18cm) and set in the refrigerator
  4. Cut to serve

Add topping as required to the top of the batter/slice once it is neatly in the lined tin. You could use chopped pistachios, toasted coconut shred, cacao nibs or for a special occasion make a berry compote and chill it off to serve over the top with thickened vanilla bean coconut cream. If you choose to add toppings like nuts you may want to give these a little push into the top of the batter to stop them falling off when you cut the slice.
I cut mine and dust it with cacao powder before serving or leave it plain.
I’m confident that this recipe will become a staple in your fridge as it is high fat and therefore will keep you fuller longer, the cacao will reduce the cravings and if you leave out the optional dates you could have it on the everyday menu.

We love what Pete Evans is doing with food education and lifestyle. Check out his series on food and healing in the kitchen. You don’t have to eat a Paleo diet to reap the rewards of good, sound lifestyle and nutritional advice from the experts that he interviews throughout each episode.
I’d also like to point out that if you love what this is all about you can attend the Paleo Way Tour in Australia and New Zealand this year.

Quote of the Month:

One filled with joy preaches without preaching. ~ Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa’s quote is defiantly one to live life by and a brilliant lesson on how to engage people on a level for activating change. No one ever followed the sad and solemn into action. If you plan to make healthful changes in your family's lifestyle this year you need to be the definition of joy. Let’s all inspire change by wearing the badge of healing recovery and echo the joyous freedom that comes from wellness and movement that is free from pain and illness. You are the healer you’ve been waiting for and you know instinctively what you need.
If you're having trouble hearing that voice, all you need to know is that your intuition is the same as a muscle because the more you exercise it the bigger it gets.
There are things that we can all do to help nurture the voice along. By incorporating filtered water, adequate sleep, play, reducing the chemical load from the environment/food/personal care items, increasing faith and spiritual connection plus the benefits of good nutrition, we can all learn to hear the voice and in time it's going to transform into a broadcast of epic proportions. As ever we are proud of every step forward and every healthful change made on any level.
