1. Sage 100 - 4.5 Retirement 9/30/15

Support for version 4.4 ended on 9/30/14 and support for 4.5 will end on 9/30/15.  Please prepare during 2015 to upgrade your software to continue to receive the benefits of the current versions of the software.

2. Sage 100 - 2015 Release

Version 2015 is planned for end user release in April 2015.  Please see our ERP Document Library at for the What’s New in Sage 100 – 2015 document for more details.  As always, we need to conduct an upgrade planning meeting to discuss the implications (third parties, customizations, hardware, etc.) of any upgrade.

3. Sage 100 - Maintenance Reinstatement Policy Change

Sage will be changing the reinstatement policy for Sage 100 if you let your maintenance lapse effective April 1, 2015.  You will no longer pay back maintenance plus a 25% penalty but required to enter a subscription plan paying monthly for the use of your software.  Sage has begun contacting companies who have let their maintenance lapse proposing the subscription model (lower up front and monthly costs but higher long term costs).  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding renewing your maintenance plan with Sage.

4. Sage 100 - Future Plans for 2016

For those looking ahead to 2016 with Sage, they have suggested changes to Manufacturing and Distribution modules in the 2016 release along with improvements in Drop Ship, expanded AR data fields, purchase order and paperless office improvements.  No details have been released.

5. Sage BusinessWorks 2015 and Price Increase

We were notified by Sage that on March 27th, a major price increase will be coming, however, Sage will not be releasing the new pricing until after March 27th.  If you are considering adding users or modules, please contact us before March 27th.  We are disappointed Sage will not be advising you of pricing until after the price change has taken effect. All Sage BusinessWorks clients active on maintenance were notified by email from Chortek on March 6th.
2013 PU9 and 2015 PU1 contain the tax tables for 2015.  Tax tables are not available for any other version (versions 2013 and 2015 are supported versions by Sage).

2013 PU10 and 2015 PU2 were released on March 6th with very minor fixes and include all prior product updates (PU) for that version.
Version 2015 was released on November 4, 2014 which contains minor fixes and new reports in Payroll and Order Entry.  Please contact us to review the features to determine if you should download and install this new version.

6. Sage CRM 7.3

Sage CRM 7.3 stand-alone version is now available for those without integration to Sage 100.  Sage CRM 7.3 Integrated with Sage 100 ERP has a targeted release date of April 7, 2015.  This latest release of CRM offers exciting new features, such as the new e-marketing integration with MailChimp that allows you to easily send and track e-mail marketing campaigns.  Best of all, MailChimp is free for lists of up to 2,000 subscribers.

CRM 7.3 introduces a new contemporary look and feel, and is adding a new Android Sales Mobile App for more convenience to mobile users.

More information on Version 7.3 can be found on our ERP Document Library:

7. Sage 100 - Support for Affordable Care Act

For those with Payroll and 50 or more full time employees, Sage has outlined how to keep information in Sage 100 to comply with the Employer Shared Responsibility provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  Please visit:

(Sage Knowledgebase article as provided under your annual Sage BusinessCare plan) for more details on when the various supported versions of Sage 100 will be in compliance with this provision.  Please contact us if you need to comply with this provision to schedule the update needed when it's released by Sage and to make sure the Retain Perpetual History button is checked in Payroll Options.

8. Windows 2003 Server Support Ending

As announced by Microsoft, support for Windows 2003 Server (and Small Business Server 2003) will be ending on July 14, 2015.  Sage will also be discontinuing support for the Windows 2003 Server platform on that date as well.  Please work with your hardware/network provider to plan on upgrading your server operating system prior to this deadline to avoid any Sage support and system issues that may arise.  As always, please contact us for the Windows Operating Systems that your software supports before performing any server and workstation operating system changes.

9. Avoid common errors in sales and use tax

The more relationships you have with suppliers, resellers, drop shippers and customers, the easier it can be to overlook a nexus obligation or product exemption. And the last thing you want is to dead end into an audit.
Ask yourself these questions:
  • Do you do business in multiple states?
  • Do you sell direct to customers?
  • Where are your exemption certificates?
  • Do you manually calculate tax?
Chart your course to compliance on our infographic roadmap. Avalara will show you how automation can help simplify this journey and get you headed in the right direction.

Take the first step to making sure your manufacturing business is tax compliant by attending our upcoming webinar.
