1. And the 2019 School DUX is.......

Congratulations to our 2019 School DUX Amity Kunst who received an ATAR of 91.40!!  Amity has been at RSC since she started in RIA in year 7 as a Music specialism student. Amity was also our East Vice Captain this year. "We are so proud of you Amity, all your hard work has paid off and on behalf of everyone at the college we wish you every success in your future." - Ms Julie Kennedy, Principal. We interviewed Amity and here's what she had to say about this outstanding life achievement.

How are you feeling?
Pretty shocked, but I also feel proud and reflective over the hard work I have done this year.
What are you planning to do next year?
Definitely a gap year. I’d love to travel and get into the workforce. But I am planning to take it as it comes and focus on volunteering.
What are your future goals?
It would be amazing to volunteer in Peru (granted I learn a least a bit of Spanish). But aside from that I haven’t really got any big plans.
Is there anyone at RSC you would like to thank?
I’d like to thank all my teachers throughout High School, but especially year 12. Ms. Lowes and Ms. Djunaidy were always there for support in my subjects and Ms. Wills and Ms. Zaal as coordinators were always looking out for us.
What are the 3 best things about going to school at RSC?

  1. The devoted teachers
  2. The awesome opportunities
  3. The growth and experience of the specialised programs.

2. Welcome 2020 Years 7's for Orientation Day

On Tuesday we held our Orientation Day to welcome our new Year 7's to Rowville Secondary College. Over 330 students from both campuses enjoyed a day in the life of secondary school which included a warm welcome from our school Principal, Ms. Julie Kennedy, followed by students spending time with their new Learning Mentor Group and Teacher in our year 7 Commons Building. Mini lessons were run throughout the day for music, science, maths, art and sport.  Students & parents were sent off with a slideshow of fun photos at the end of the day. "Warm, comfortable, welcome & happy" were the main words our new year 7's used to describe their day. Thank you to all the new parents that came along, we look forward to welcoming everyone into our RSC community in the New Year.

3. ASC @Basketball - GOLD GOLD GOLD!!

Congratulations to the Australian Schools Champions for U15 Girls Basketball. A very convincing lead from the front to win over Berwick who fought hard until the end. Final score was 62-43. Amazing! Well done players and coaches! Congratulations also goes out to the U17 Australian Schools Championship gold medalists. The girls hung tough in a tight game to beat a fast finishing Haileybury by 2!

Calling for Sponsors
Our U15 Girls team has been asked to represent Australia at the World Basketball Championships in March 2020 in Croatia. We are looking for corporate sponsors to help us get there. If you are interested or know of company who is, please contact the Rowville Sports Academy on 9755 4651.
4. Monash HPR visits RSC!

Monash HPR (High Powered Rocketry) strives to push the boundaries of space technologies and enable students to become the space industry pioneers of the future. And we were lucky enough to have them on campus last Friday with our Year 7 MSA class. Here's what they said: "Monash HPR had a wonderful experience facilitating a workshop at Rowville Secondary College. With outstandingly creative minds and attention to detail, the students were able to construct paper rockets that performed marvelously. We hope you guys enjoyed it as much as we did! Thank you Rowville Secondary College for having us!" *Source:
