1. Hello & Goodbye 'Remote Learning 4.0'

A huge thank you to our school community this week who came together and made a seamless return to Remote Learning. Our students, parents/guardians, teachers and support staff at Rowville Secondary College jumped in and made our learning from classroom to online a positive experience. "I was impressed at how quickly our students engaged and took on their role as remote learners for 2 days and then enthusiastically came back to the classroom for learning on Thursday. A special mention to our year 7 cohort, who were new to our remote learning model at RSC and eagerly took this on." - Ms. Kennedy, College Principal.

2. Victorian High-Ability Program

The Victorian High‐Ability Program (VHAP) is an online program where student will engage in learning with their peers and a Victorian High Ability Practice teacher using VSV Online, our Moodle‐based Learning Management System (LMS). In this program, students will be learning exciting new concepts and will develop further skills. Their classmates will be fellow students from all across Victoria. There’ll be opportunities for all participating students to problem‐solve, collaborate with their peers and engage in lots of deeper learning tasks.

We are excited to announce that, our Victorian High Ability Program for the year 2021 kicks off this term. Due to our remarkable growth in student's academic data over the last year, this year we have fifteen students who will be participating in this extraordinary program from year 8 alone!

We invite you to join us in congratulating our High Ability Students and in celebrating their achievements with us!

3. Zero Tolerance for Bullying @RSC

We are proud to be a school that embraces the values of respect, responsibility, excellence and community. Over the years we have embedded many successful strategies for supporting a safe and inclusive environment at the school. We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying. Our bulling policy can be found on our website. We have specific curriculum designed to teach respectful relationships and acceptance of diversity. We have created a strong house culture where each student is well known and individually supported by their Learning Mentor.

Each year we participate in the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence and this year we are planning to run activities in class, these will include specific lessons around dealing with bullying directly and as a bystander, lunchtime activities, our say no to bullying poster pledge and we will ask our school community to wear a splash of orange on the day.

Watch our Bullying is not okay video from our student leaders last year.
