June 2019

The most sensational time of the year on the poker calendar... why can't the WSOP last forever, eh? 😃

After two amazing weeks in Las Vegas, I've spent these past couple weeks at home in Israel with my family #balance. In just a couple days, I'll be heading back to Las Vegas once again, to work during the World Series of Poker Main Event... but first, something pretty awesome:

Lots of well-known poker personalities are on the invite list, and the gathering is open to everyone.

We'll be having some
AMAZING GIVEAWAYS at this event:
  • 2 VIP Tickets to UFC 239: JONES vs. SANTOS (on July 6th)
  • 2 vouchers to the PokerStars Store ($250 and $150 value, respectively)
  • FREE food and refreshments!
The above giveaways are possible thanks to the generous support of PokerStars, who incidentally will also have a presence during UFC International Fight Week and Interactive Fan Experience between July 3-7 (which you should totally check out 😀).

We're hoping to get at least 3 or 4 tables going. If it's as successful as I hope, perhaps this can become an annual tradition? 😃

Good times will most certainly be had! PLEASE BE IN TOUCH ASAP to let me know if you can make it, and feel free to spread the word on social media and bring your friends!
  1. If you see me in Las Vegas (I'll primarily be at the Rio, from July 2-14th), come say hi! Poker's "summer camp" is all about unions, reunions, and communions. 😃
  2. As I said in last month's newsletter, I want to wish you all a successful and enjoyable summer of poker, whether you'll be in Las Vegas or elsewhere. Relish the experiences and treasure the memories you make!

Thanks so much once again to the iNinja Poker Tour for sponsoring this newsletter.

In June we put out three new episodes of the Red Chip Poker Podcast, as I interviewed another terrific trio from the poker world, including:
  • Mike Gano
  • Mac Verstandig
  • Coach W34z3l
If you haven't already done so, go ahead and tune in!

Bruce Briggs and I cranked out another couple episodes of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast as well. One episode we dedicated primarily to recapping many of the fun experiences I had while in Las Vegas, both on and off the felt while the other episode featured a guest appearance from one of our listeners sharing stories of some fun home game experiences as well as new game variants.

Be sure to have a listen!

Also, I'll be participating in the "PokerNews Family of Podcasts Hangout Night" (and tournament) on July 8th at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. Hope to see you there!

On June 3, I had the tremendous thrill of playing in a WSOP bracelet event for the very first time; the $1,500 Dealer's Choice event. While I didn't win the bracelet (or make the final table, or make it into the money, or even make it to Day 2 😂), I most certainly had the time of my life. Thanks so much to my friend, Poker Hall of Famer Linda Johnson, for capturing below a very special moment I had at the felt.

I wrote a pre-event article (see also, below) and had been planning on writing up a post-event article, too, but to my surprise I was contacted by PokerNews and to be interviewed for stories they wrote about me. Many thanks to Aleeyah Jadavji and Brooke Keaton, respectively, for reaching out!

Our good friend Bernard Lee was featured on Stories from the Stage earlier this month in an episode entitled "For the Win." He gave a very moving talk to a live audience about how it was his family's support and encouragement that got him into playing poker, eventually leading to his success, and I think that's a subject that resonates with so many of us who love the game.

I encourage you to watch Bernard's speech in its entirety.

You've probably heard by now that Eli Elezra won his fourth WSOP bracelet earlier this month. How wonderful it was to celebrate the victory with him in Las Vegas!

A number of Eli's colleagues at the felt, as well as notable poker industry personalities, have gotten their copies of the book over the last month and have recorded testimonials that I've shared via Twitter, including Johnny Chan, Benjamin Pollack, Norman Chad, Matt Savage, Eric Danis, Adam Pliska, and more.

Click here to order Pulling the Trigger on Amazon, available in both hard copy or Kindle version.

While I'll be in Las Vegas over the next couple weeks, I'll have some copies of Eli's autobiography on me. The per book cost is $20, with half of that money being donated to the Save a Child's Heart charity. Plus, you'll get a free Cardplayer Lifestyle patch with every purchase (you could use it as a bookmark)!

As always, I've included a selection of this month's top articles (which you may have missed) below. I hope you enjoy the reads; if you do, please share your favorites on social media to help spread the word!

Your feedback, constructive or otherwise, is of course welcome.
