July 2021
Hi All,

So you know that HUGE announcement I mentioned last month? We actually, finally, announced it! From October 4-7 we'll be hosting the first ever Cardplayer Lifestyle Mixed Game Festival in Las Vegas, and I couldn't be more excited!

From free food, to special discounted room rates, to merchandise/swag giveaways, to the chance to win a Platinum Pass from PokerStars worth approximately $30,000 (that's not a typo!), our Mixed Game Festival will be spectacular!

There's a LOT of excellent mixed game poker content that we're planning to publish next month, plus, there's even more "special event stuff" that will be taking place during our 4-day festival that I'll be announcing soon, too, so keep your eyes peeled.

FYI, the fastest way to stay on top of all our breaking news and content output is by following our new Twitter account
@PokerLifeMedia. (You're of course still welcome to also follow me @cardplayerlife 😃)

Of course, there's been plenty more we've been busy with during July, which you can check out below.

Hope to see you all at the Westgate Las Vegas on October 4-7!

Episode #12 of The Orbit was our lead-up show to the World Series of Poker.

I serve as host and moderator for the virtual poker roundtable discussion show, whose 12th episode premiered earlier this month on The panelists featured were:
  • Mori Eskandani (Poker Hall of Famer, President of PokerGO)
  • Greg Raymer (2004 WSOP Main Event Champion)
  • Isaac Hanson (Project Team Lead, GG Poker)

For the first time, we conducted and broadcast the show LIVE on, where you can still watch it on-demand in case you missed it.

We also debuted a brand new look, and reduced our table from 5-handed to 4-handed so that we could dive deeper into our discussion topics with our panelists while also integrating live viewer engagement. Be sure to check it out!

If that's not enough new poker-themed TV for you, my partners in Riffld Productions (we produce The Orbit together), Des Duffy and Leigh Wiltshire, have also debuted a brand new show that they co-host called Seat Wide Open.

The premise of the show, broadcast live on, sees a professional poker player live streaming their cash game play with some new innovative twists. These include:
  • the co-hosts interviewing the player during their online play
  • the player giving analysis and explanation of decisions being made
  • playing a number of different "variety show" games to earn leaderboard points
Dara O'Kearney and Jesse Sylvia have been the first two guests on the show, which has already received some nice poker media coverage on and

Beyond my regular poker media activity, something else I've been up to behind the scenes is working as a Strategic Advisor for a new poker start-up company called

In a nutshell, it's a newly developed online poker platform that offers two primary unique innovations:
  1. Audio and video are integrated (i.e., you can see who you're playing against with no need for Zoom, etc)
  2. You can literally create your own poker variants (any of the dealer's choice mix games -- and then some! -- are possible)
