<<First Name>>!
As it sometimes happens, stuff comes up. Based on unavoidable schedule conflicts, we need to move the date for orientation.

So I need three things from you, please:
  1. Are you available for orientation from 10 AM  - 3 PM on June 23rd? Please respond as soon as possible.
  2. Let me know if you have any allergies!
  3. And tell me your preferred t-shirt size (unisex, adult)

2018 Tacoma Film Camp Master Doc
Jason, Kimberly, Laneka, Pat.c, and Jose will be the weekly support throughout film camp; scroll down to see your team for each week:
  • Film Camp Director Jason Ganwich will lead camp every day, for all five weeks of camp. He will be your point person for the direction of your team, helping you to stay on task and on time in order to complete your films and have the most fun possible. Jason has been our Film Camp leader since camp started six years ago, and has developed a dynamic and unique curriculum - he's an incredible resource and also has the final say when decisions need to be made!
  • Film Camp Assistant Director Kimberly Loucks is back for her second year with the team. Kimberly keeps everything functioning behind the scenes - wrangling equipment, watching the schedule, keeping an eye on the teams in order to provide any additional help and guidance. Kimberly is a pro, trained through the Bates media program and can help with all things technical, mentorship, and creative.
  • Film Camp Assistant Producer Laneka Viney is new to Tacoma Film Camp this year but not new to camps and supporting youth. For the last three years, she has worked as a leader, mentor, and instructor at the Destiny Arts Center and  Kajukenbo Kwoon Martial Arts School in Oakland, CA. She will be supporting Kimberly and all teams for the first two weeks of Film Camp, then supporting a team as a production assistant for the two weeks of advanced camp.
  • From The Grand Cinema staff, our talented projectionists Pat.c Noriega and Jose Candido will be on hand to make sure we have the technical support we need in theater.

The mission of The Grand Cinema’s education programming is to grow and nurture the agency, critical thinking, technical skills, and expression of filmmakers, with a guiding focus to serve young, underserved emerging artists.

Our programs include film clubs, summer camps, and filmmaker workshops.

These opportunities connect youth ages 10-20+ with the art of film as a means to think critically and tell their own stories. Participating youth develop 21st Century Skills such as leadership, collaboration, and technological and technical skills.

Established in 1997, The Grand Cinema is a nonprofit art house theater, film center, and community resource sustained by volunteers, members, donors, and community partnerships. Learn more here.
