Strong Schools Reflect a Strong Community!
In Perry Township Schools, there is a strong legacy within our community.  Our newsletters will feature a staff member or student who exemplifies the strong family ties within our school community.

Dr. Tom Little, Superintendent
Meet Mrs. Sarah Anderson
Sarah is the 2013-14 Custodian of the Year for Perry Township Schools. She grew up in Perry Township and attended Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, Perry Meridian Middle School and graduated from Perry Meridian High School.  Her father, Mr. Harrold Scalf, is a retiree of the district, having served as the Director of Transportation for many years.
For the past 21 years, she has served the district as a custodian at Winchester Village, Burkhart and Southport 6th Grade Academy.  She is part of the original staff who opened SA in 2004, where she is the head custodian.
She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Aaron, for 21 years.  They are proud of their 3 children:  Kristin (Southport 6th Grade Academy teacher), Nichole (Southport 6th Grade Academy café staff member) and Samuel (a junior at Center Grove High School).  They are also delighted to have 1 grandchild, Joseph, who is 2 ½ years old.  Also part of her family are Bella and Mabel, their two dogs.
Kim Campbell, Principal of Southport 6th Grade Academy says, “I have been principal of this building since it's opening and it looks as good today as it did when it opened in 2004.  That is due to the hard work of Sarah and her crew.  When people set foot into our building they always compliment on the cleanliness  and how beautiful it is. Many times they cannot believe it is 10 years old.”

Award-winning author, Susan Campbell Bartoletti, spent the day sharing with students and staff her process for researching and writing historical fiction and non-fiction. She shared the importance of making personal connections, family stories, primary sources, secondary sources, and telling the story with honesty and research-based facts. Sponsor of the event was Mrs. Leslie Preddy, PMMS Media Specialist.

Students in Mrs. Cathy Wessel’s Discovery class at Perry Meridian 6th Grade Academy visit Green Park Terrace Senior Living Center once a month for fun and friendship. In their most recent visit, students wished the residents a wonderful Christmas by joining them for Bingo, enjoying cookies, and bringing them presents provided by the students.
Second grade students in Mrs. Alison Staton’s class at Jeremiah Gray-Edison Elementary were given cards to decorate and send to Marines on active duty. Each student wrote a heart-felt message and wished each Marine a very Merry Christmas.
